Hi Ladies. I'm new to this group.. Just found it while searching in the groups. I've been on N4M's for about a month now.
My son left for boot camp on Oct 6th and is now just about at the halfway mark and will PIR on 12/02/2011. The first couple of weeks were very hard, but I received the first letters from him last Thursday (he sent 3 in one envelope!) and my first call from him yesterday. I got to talk to him for a whole 17 minutes!!!
I am married now for 7 years to a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer and I have two sons, 19 (in boot camp) and 16 (a sophomore in HS and in Naval JROTC). I also have two step daughters - one is married to a Air Force Boom Operator (living on McQuire AFB in NJ) and they have two beautiful daughters, age 1 and 3, and the other step daughter is single, graduating in December with her Masters degree. My husband, youngest son and myself live in Texas.
I'm looking forward to contributing in this group and hopefully making new friends along the way.
It is a very sad time. Reminds me that my Navy family is like my NYPD family. When the bad stuff happens, the circle tightens in support of the hurting and providing comfort to those who are trying to bring comfort! Thank you my Navy sisters. Couldn't survive without knowing you are all there.
@Katynorth, thank you for that list. I know my representatives won't be getting my support or my vote next November!! Gonna search out some much better candidates!
No disrespect on this sad day, but if I don't post this now, I'll forget to do it.
IN RESPONSE TO THE EMAILS CONCERNING MY DOG: Please be advised I am sick to death of receiving questions about my dog who mauled six illegals wearing Obama tee shirts, four Democrats wearing Pelosi tee shirts, two rappers, ten Zynga programmers, five phone operators who asked me to press #1 for English, nine teenagers with pants hanging down past their cracks, eight customer service desk people speaking in broken English, and three flag burners, . FOR THE LAST TIME...MY DOG IS NOT FOR SALE!!!
Mama Nonie,
I agree with the advice you gave your son.
I already have a 4 year degree but went back to college to update my skills and start a new career. I graduated a year ago and still not found a job in my profession. I think the economy is getting worse, not better.
