I've been slowly reading through old comments.  I'm proud to be in a group with such well informed women.  Thank you for letting me in.

My NYPD son is now officially on leave from the force and will be active duty on Monday.  His deployment date is fast approaching.  Wish time could slow down a little bit at least.

Wow, Stacey!  I guess you just never know, do you?

I'm sooo glad I found you all.  It is nice to be with people who have the same ideals and values about things important!!

Have a great day!

PS:  BTW, Molly's went down to #13 yesterday, but we worked like the crazy Navy Mommas we are (anything for our kiddos) and this morning we are at #9.  A slippery place to be, but back in the running - for now.  PLEASE take a few minutes and vote for 'Special Hugs - Molly's Adopt A Sailor'.  We just got a request for support from a 2nd combat hospital in A-stan so we in the group really need the money to pay for shipping.  None of us feel we can say No to them, but ...  the well only runs so deep.  Picture yourself injured and having no pillow or linens on the bed!!  That is what we do.  Thanks to everyone!

Hello Navy Moms!  I've been out of touch for a while.  I wanted to share something that I find very concerning.  My son is about half way through A school.  In his study hall class last night, one of the instructors who is an E7 was teaching the students how to work the system to get extra money!  My son, who is an E2 politely challenged the instructor explaining that people like him are what is wrong with our budget issues.  I'm proud of my son for speaking up.  My son thought everyone serving in the military was conservative.

I also have a request from Molly's Adopt A Sailor.  We need some help, & with an economy that sucks and all the worries our military have to face in addition to the dangers they face, I'm hoping you will help us out.  We don't have an operating budget & Moms can't afford to buy items to ship and then pay the shipping so this money will go towards shipping costs.  This group also supports a forward combat hospital in A-stan that treats our marines and land-based sailors.  The hospital didn't have pillows, sheets or pillowcases for all the patients, so we shipped them!  They run out of b'fast items before the end of the month - OFTEN, so we send them food supplies. This is our wonderful government's budget cuts at work!!  It is a long post, but I hope you will consider helping this group out, no matter what personal opinions you might have towards them.

Thanks you - very much!  And, thank you from the troops receiving the packages!

MOLLY'S ADOPT A SAILOR NEEDS HELP!!!!

You all know my secret, but maybe you don't know where we get our $$s from.  Certainly not from Navy Mommas, the economy really sucks right now.  We are in the running for a $50K grant from Pepsi Refresh Everything.

Last year we sent over 12,000+ care packages with the money and supported a MASH-type hospital in A-stan.  Right now we are in between 10th and 11th place.  We HAVE to be in 10th place at the very least to win the $$s again.  The contest only lasts until the end of July.

Please can you all pitch in and help put us higher in the running?  You KNOW where some of this money is going cause I already told you!!  So please get busy voting so we can make August's adoption one of the best ever!!

You can vote 3 ways, that is 3 votes per person per day!

1) Go to refresheverything.com and sign-up for a Pepsi account using your email addy & any password you decide to pick.  You will NOT be receiving spam from Pepsi.  They will send you an email to confirm that is your addy.  Look for it in your regular mail and in your spam folder.  I registered my hubby, his confirmation came in his email; mine was in my spam folder - go figure.  Register as many emails as you can: home, work, family members, anyone who gives you permission. Just remember they HAVE to confirm their email addys for votes to work.

2) You can vote thru FB, when you go to refresheverything.com, click on sign-in and it gives you the option of FB or pepsi account.  Vote from each place.

Search for "Special Hugs", when it comes up, make sure you click on the vote for this idea button and be sure it registers (little green line appears at bottom!)

Special Hugs Project - Molly's Adopt A Sailor is in the $50K category.

3) Text 107637 to 73774.  The first # is for SH/MAS; the 2nd number is P-e-p-s-i

And if you have Pepsi Power Votes, ENTER THEM NOW!!!  Power vote codes can be found on the yellow caps on Pepsi products, only Pepsi, not Sprite or their ice tea.  Power votes can be used easiest with a pepsi account, but you can power vote from FB.

If you have any questions, let me know.

We've been able to take on some very big adoptions this past year, because the Pepsi money has gone towards shipping costs.  We all know how hard it is to buy items and then have to pay for shipping too.  Lots of families simply can't afford it, which is tough for our sailors who get no mail when others do.

Please, please consider helping us.  We are Navy Moms and WE ROCK THE WORLD FOR OUR KIDS...

Thanks everyone,

NYPD

Yesterday Obama came to town to visit Alcoa NOT on a campaign visit (sure). The crowd we were told for photo ops consisted of mostly blacks and Hispanics, few whites.

I find it ironic for two things. On the route is the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf where more than 700 WWII Honor Flight veterans, plus their guardians, families, and volunteers tried to gather. You had to be there though before they closed down I-74, State Street, AND the Mississippi River! Many veterans arrived late and almost missed the luncheon because of Obama. We had a prime viewing place for the motorcade to go by--very few got up to go see it RACE by.

The second thing I find ironic--Michelle is all about telling us what to eat to be healthy. The motorcade stoppped at Ross' Restaurant in Bettendorf. (google it and you'll read about how dirty and greasy it is, but it is a piece of truck stop history on what was US 6.)

Ross' basic Magic Mountain starts off with grilled Texas toast covered with Ross' special hamburger meat, then is piled high with a choice of either French fries or hash browns and smothered with cheese sauce. A diner can request his or her mountain be capped with snow -- an option of chopped onion. The Volcano is the same with the addition of HOT chili on top.

The president stopped and ordered take out--four Magic Mountains and two Volcanoes. I hope he had the heartburn that I get when I think about him.

Oh Lord...unbelievable! Well, let's just hope that's not one of the items! Last year, the items were flip flops, socks, some red/white/blue T-shirts, and jean shorts, if that helps! :-)

Be sure to check with your local Old Navy stores during the weekend leading up to July 4th...each year, they hold tables where people can send cards (donated by Hallmark) to deployed Troops, and whenever someone purchases certain items they are highlighting, Old Navy will send those items to the Troops as well! My local Blue Star Mothers group will be manning the tables at our local Old Navy stores, so check it out in your areas, too!
