It doesn't look like there has been a lot of activity on this group lately, but with three of us, maybe it will start back up. My son is still in A school and just chose orders for Okinawa after he greaduates, after a stop in San Diego for a couple of months.  I estimate he will get there in May.  I am excited for him, because I've heard it's an amazing base, but I am already missing him.  Will be nice to have people to talk to who also have a child there.

My Son graduates from C school December 16th and will then be heading to Okinawa. He is uncertain as to the date he heads out.  I'm hoping he will have a chance to come home from San Antonio and say his goodbyes to all of us. He will be working as a Psych Tech. He is excited for the experience.  Sounds like communication will be a bit challenging.

2proud - My son is also at the navy hospital. He works in the ER. Went to Okinawa last December. So far he really enjoys it. Corpsmen always seem to run in packs so you're never alone!

Hello, again!  I haven't been on here in quite some time!  My "doc" is working at a clinic at Camp Hansen.  I work at an elementary school- the kids all made Easter cards and pictures and the 3rd grade donated candy to send to those working at the clinic.  I sent 4 boxes, weighing approx. 43.lbs, to J!  He got them Tuesday (our time) and said they were all thrilled to get it!  Pictures and cards have been hung in offices throughout the clinic, and I think everyone is on a sugar high!!  For a small school, we sure do rock!!  Happy Easter to everyone- may God bless!

I admit I'm a Facebook skulker. At least I can see pix he's posted and know that he's fine. My son currently works in the ER.

Good morning! I have a son who is a corpsman at the naval hospital at Camp Lester. I don't really hear a lot from him so I hoped I could gather little tidbits from this group. He's been there since before Xmas and works a lot (jenky hours, to quote him) Look forward to getting to know you all. - Stacey

Don't know exactly how long it took.  I shipped on the 5th and on the 24th he said he got it, but apparently it had been there and he didn't know it!  The postmaster in my town said it can take up to 30 days.

Yes, I get blindsided every once in a while!  So glad I have you ladies who understand..............my family just says "ah, Mom's crying again"!!

Finally got to talk to J on Skype!  We haven't talked since Christmas Day, but we've messaged on FB.  He showed us the view out his window and we showed him the snow!  And....I didn't start crying!!  Sounds like he's loving it :)  Hope you all are doing great and staying warm~

My son Jordan arrived Dec 30th. He is living at Camp Lester. He has called us using skype. The rates are cheap and we can IM each other on our mobile phones when it is a good time to speak. The time change definitely makes it a challege. Also checking on facebook helps. He likes Okinawa very much and said everyone he has met on base have been great. He is off to a good start!! I miss him being so far away but am glad he is happy with where he is.
