Carol - OMG! My Grandma wore Youth Dew as well! Always tickled me as a kid that she chose that perfume because of course as a kid I thought she was ancient and the name was so not! But every now and then I'll catch a wiff of it and smile thinking of her :0)

LOL - well, Devin went in style, even had a brand new hoodie on, that became my security blankie while he was gone. Mind you - they did have quite the odor but I just couldn't make myself wash them! He got a good laugh when he found me wearing his old wrestling sweats the other evening, (I'm all of 5'4" and 130 lbs, Devin is 6'4" and when a wrestler about 225 lbs.) Needless to say they are huge but I wear them anyway! I know - I'm sick!

Audreymema, that's funny. Reminds me of the box I got from Iraq, the dog was in heaven when we opened that trunk. My son insisted that those clothes were "clean". smelled just like him, thank goodness they were "clean" I can't imagine if they had been "dirty".

Angie, I'm not in the Texas mom's group, I will cut/paste this to my friends that live in Corpus in an email. Many are retired military, or Navy brats like me.
If you spot a real connection, email address or phone number, could you message it to me? thanks.

Carol - I'm not an overly religious person, was raised in the church but I am open to all beliefs, I talk to God in my own way and am greatful for all of the blessings in my life. I do believe in angels, and I think your Anthony put that stocking there as a reminder that his love is always with you. When my Dad passed away cardinals kept flying in my path, I'm not talking once in a while, I'm talking while I was driving, walking, here in FL and up in AL at my son's, it was the weirdest thing, they just kept coming out of nowhere, I think he was just trying to let me know he was still with me. And my best friend sends me olive shells, we spent so much of our time together at the beach she sends me shells, I can look down at the sand and there are none to be found, look again and she's sent me the most beautiful ones you can imagine! I have bowls of olive shells all over my house...

Morning y'all! I am so relieved to know that I am not the only mom that keeps the smell of her children on unlaundered clothes! When "the box" came home from BC I didn't wash that stuff until Devin came home again, needless to say that when he realized this he decided his momma was a nut-job! Been eyeing his stuff here the past couple of days to decide what I'll be holding onto...the time has just flown by, can't believe he'll be heading out in 2 short days, but I am soooo greatful for the time we've had him home and so excited for the adventures he has ahead of him!

Monica,
I have gone through bootcamp twice now first my daughter right after 9-11 and then a year and a half ago with my son. I feel your pain it is very hard it's the first time in our lives we truly can't contact them at all. Our children come home as adults and yes the emotions your feeling only get better cuz we are moms. He is going to do great ! It will be a proud moment for you when Graduation day comes and you see your child as a man ohhhh how proud ! This is only the begining and what a great one.
When my daughter joined the Navy I didn't have a site like this to help me get through all our questions we have .
Take a deep breath and know he is going to be just fine.

Carol,

The other day my daughter came into my room with a T-shirt of Mike's and said " mom I think you need this more then me ". At the time I had tears in my eyes thinking what my son must be seeing and wishing he was two again holding on to my leg.....funny our memories...
Lats year we lost a very strong part of our family and I would so like to think that my mommy is with her favorite little boy watching over him and making sure that he and everyone around him are safe from harm.
I have to say I don't always get a chance to read everything that is said during the day on this site and I am still new to this site, but please know I am so glad that I have all of you here to go to. Thank you cuz this is not going to be an easy holiday for my daughter and I .
I did get an email from my son saying he was safe and in good spirits, sooo today the sun did shine on us and this mom for just that split momment could smell her little two year olds t-shirt once again.

God Bless all of you and your,

Mike's mom

Yes, I'm a little amazed at myself, it's my mom's birthday this Saturday ( we lost her when I was carrying my sailor son) and the anniversary of Leland's accident coming up. Guess it's on my mind!

This Christmas will be such a tough one for you, Carol. You do so much for all of us with your comments and support, I hope we can help you now, or at least distract you with insanity at some point!
