OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Crockpot Cherry Cobbler

2 21-oz cans cherry pie filling
18 1/4 oz pkg. yellow cake mix, dry
1/4 cup butter, soften
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Pour pie filling into 5 qt crockpot; spread evenly

In a large bowl, combine dry cake mix with butter until it is crumbly; sprinkle over pie filling. Sprinkle with nuts

Turn on crockpot to low and cover and cook 3-4 hours. Serve warm.

Crockpot Cake

1 cake mix, any brand any flavor
1 small box instant pudding; use the same flavor as the cake
12 ounces sour cream
4 eggs
¾ cups oil
1 cup water

Spray inside of crockpot with nonstick cooking spray. Mix all ingredients together and pour in crockpot. Cook on low for about 6 hours. Turn crockpot off and let sit for about 1 to 2 hours. Then you can flip it out onto a plate. If you do not let it cool long enough before taking it out of the crockpot half of it stays in the crock.
Crockpot Rice Pudding

1-1/2 cup cooked rice
16 oz half and half or light cream
3/4 cup raisins
3 eggs
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2/3 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Grease stoneware of crock-pot with butter.
Beat half and half, eggs, sugar & vanilla with electric mixer.
Stir in rice and raisins.
Pour in crock-pot.
Sprinkle nutmeg on top.
Cover, cook on high for 30 minutes. Stir well.
Cook on low, 2-3 hours.

Makes about 8 cups
Crock Pot Savory and Slow Bananas Foster

1/2 C. margarine or butter
1/4 C. brown sugar
6 fresh bananas, cut into 1-inch slices
1/4 C. rum

Melt margarine in slow cooker by turning cooker on Low. It will take about 10 minutes. Mix in brown sugar when margarine or butter is melted.

Gently stir in fresh bananas and rum. Cook on Low for 1 hour. Spoon banana mixture over vanilla ice cream and serve.

Serves 4.
Pineapple Daiquiri Sundae

1 20oz. can crushed pineapple,drained
1/2 c dark rum
1/2 c sugar
3Tb. lime juice
Peel of 2 limes,cut into long strands
1Tb. cornstarch

Place all into crock pot, mix well, cover and cook on high for 3-4 hrs.
Serve hot over ice cream or pound cake. (or both together, yum yum)

Ohhh-I've always made dump cake in oven--only difference is one can of pineapple and one can of cherry pie filling.
Slow Cooker Brownie Cake Squares

2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup fat-free evaporated milk
1/3 cup trans-free margarine
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips

Directions
1. Coat 4-quart or larger slow cooker with cooking spray. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in bowl.
2. Combine milk, margarine, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl. Mix in flour mixture until smooth, then stir in chocolate chips. Spread batter evenly in slow cooker.
3. Cover. Cook on low 2 to 3 hours, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool, uncovered, 15 minutes. Remove insert from cooker and invert contents over rack, or let cool completely in cooker before cutting into 12 squares.



Crockpot Walnut Brownies Recipe

Walnut Brownies Crockpot Recipe Ingredients
2 egg
1 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup cocoa
1 package of brownie mix

Walnut Brownies Crockpot Recipe Directions
First, mix the butter, oil, sugar, water and cocoa in a sauce pan till cocoa is well mixed. Add this to a bowl with the eggs, packaged brownie mix, and walnuts and then beat until a smooth texture is formed. Grease the inner stoneware of the Crockpot and pour the batter into it. Turn the Crockpot on high for 1 1/2 hours and let stand for 30 minutes with heat turned off.


For the oven:

Cocoa Cake Brownies

These fudgy brownies are delicious. People say that the moist treats have a texture somewhere between chewy and cake-like brownies.

Ingredients:
1 cup butter, melted
1 cup Domino® or C&H® Granulated Pure Cane Sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
7 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
In a bowl, combine the butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture; stir until moistened.

Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: about 2-1/2 dozen.

I made this yesterday with peaches instead. Totally yummy!

Crockpot Peach Cobbler Recipe

Serve this Crockpot Peach Cobbler in a bowl topped with vanilla ice cream.

What You Need
• 3/4 cup baking mix, such as Bisquick
• 1/3 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 teaspoons butter or margarine, melted
• 1/2 can evaporated milk
• 3 large ripe peaches, mashed
• 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

What To Do
1. Lightly grease crockpot.
2. In a large bowl, combine baking mix and sugars, then add eggs and vanilla. Stir.
3. Add butter and milk and stir.
4. Mix in peaches and cinnamon and mix well.
5. Pour into crockpot and cover. Cook 6-8 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high.
Lemon-Poppyseed Upside Down Cake Recipe

This Lemon-Poppyseed Upside Down Cake recipe cooks up in the crockpot.

What You Need
• 1 package Lemon-Poppyseed Bread Mix
• 1 egg
• 8 ounces light sour cream
• 1/2 cup water
Sauce
• 1 tablespoon butter
• 3/4 cup water
• 1/2 cup sugar
• Juice of one lemon

What To Do
1. Mix first 4 ingredients together until well moistened.
2. Spread batter in a lightly greased 3.5-quarter crockpot.
3. Combine sauce ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Pour boiling mixture over the batter.
4. Cover crockpot; cook on high for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Edges will be slightly browned.
5. Turn heat off and leave in crockpot for about 30 minutes with cover slightly ajar. When cool enough to handle, hold a large plate over the top of the pot then invert.
Crockpot Caramel Rolls Recipe

What You Need
• 2 (8-oz.) packages refrigerated, uncooked biscuits
• 1/4 cup melted butter
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/4 cup chopped nuts
• Cinnamon
• Sugar

What To Do
1. Mix brown sugar and nuts.
2. Dip each refrigerated, uncooked biscuit in melted butter, then into the brown sugar and nuts mixture.
3. Place biscuits into a bread or cake pan that fits into your crockpot.
4. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over each layer of biscuits.
5. Cover crockpot; cook on high 3-4 hours without lifting the lid.
