Tell us about your CS and where he/she is.
It would be interesting to keep up with all our CS's as they journey through the Navy as they cook all over  the world.
Join in and post where your CS is. Post a picture if you like.

My CS is my oldest.(turns 21 in June) His PIR was Jan. 8, 2010. He finished A school on March 11, 2010. Since he is still "green" he has been assigned to take out the trash aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, which is stationed in San Diego.
He is hoping soon to be moved up to a more exciting assignment before his ship sets sail again. I told him that he has to start somewhere, and besides, the trash won't take it's self out! lol
My daughter is also my oldest, turns 21 in Sept.. She is assigned to the USS Ronald Reagan and started this Monday. She PIR on 12/5/09, finished A school 4/2/10. She is still getting used to the time change difference. She was certified today on a machine like they use in Home Depot to move palets around on. She is excited about what she is doing. She has been on the salad bar and actually got to cook today. Green beans and a pear dessert.

She has been exploring the base in her off time and loves the NEX. She also was able to meet up with a couple of friends from the Nimitz when she first arrived. She must be exploring quite a bit because she went to the movies last night. She said the bunks are very tight - you can't sit up in them and that everyone has been nice so far. The lights at night are just awsome.

She is excited to excel in whatever is asked of her. Told her even the of worst jobs should be done with pride, like you said Margaret...everyone starts somewhere and the only way to get a better job is to do the job you are given 100%.
I will tell my story another time But Zachary did say in one of his letters , that working hard had paid off, he the only E2 in the main dinning room. He is off the coast of Afica I think. Been gone 3 month.
My daughter is still in A school at great lakes. She will graduate on May 12th and will be stationed in San Diego on the USS Carl Vinson. I cant wait to her stories about ship life.
Lisa, she will have some great stories to tell, Zac has been on deployment since January, They picked up 3000. marines , went to Hatti, now they are off the coast of Afica catching pirates. What a adventure a boy from a small town like Mystic Connecticut is having , and the storys he will tell. Im excited for you
My son is my oldest (just turned 19) and started April 29 on the USS Ronald Reagan. He's yet to go through indoc but has been cooking every day. His second night in San Diego he took a cab to a Padres game -- he's a baseball fanatic -- and last night went to dinner a friend of mine who has volunteered herself as a surrogate mom in SD. He even brought his laundry although he had never met her except through my introduction on Facebook! She thought it was hilarious and I'm so glad he has "family" in town. His best friend goes to University of California San Diego but school is about to end. I hear they'll be deployed soon and am interested to see what that means as far as communication.

Thanx for the discussion board. I was hoping to find other CS moms.
My son has been deployed since January, once he get a email address set up and has acsess to a computer you can email back and forth all the time. Mail is slow about two weeks Then they can call when they get time. My son calles his wife every day. So the begining it not so good but it gets better
My daughter just finished the academic part of A school in Great Lakes. Today is the first day of the hands on part. She is the top of her class academically and will be promoted to E2 at the end of the class. If she is over all top grad, she will be an E3 when she graduates. Its so nice for these young people (shes 22, married with a 2 year old) have an opportunity for a skill and get promotions like that. There is little work for her here in Maine.

They received orders the 2nd day of class. Not like the old days when you waited months for orders. Her first pick was Everett in Washington and that's what she got. She is so excited.

I am still new to this. Her dad was career Air Force so there is lots for us to learn about the nave and being a CS.
Just keep with this group and you will learn alot. Most of us have only infor a year. (meaning our childeren)
My CS is my fiance and he just graduated boot camp on 8/20 and arrived at A School this past Tuesday (8/24). He is on hold until 9/15 and then he will start his schooling (I hope...unless they push it back again which, after reading some posts on here, seems like it happens pretty frequently) which I have been told is 25 days long. He has already gone to college and is a trained chef. He has been cooking since about 2006. He cook VERY delicious food, I honeslty gained about 30 pounds when we started dating...thank GOD for Weight Watchers, LOL! I am really excited to learn all that I can from this group :)
Zachary left culinary collage to join the navy, I was not happy about it, but he made a good choice. He started as a chef in the main dinning room then was promoted to the cheifs dinning room, witch he like mush beter because the can use more of this talents
