Thanks Dee and Debbie. We are excited to see him. We've only spent the day of PIR with him since June.

Hi everyone. I'll be heading out to see my son in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on where to stay?

Thank you Dee, that's what I was assuming.  So, now my countdown to PIR is almost finished, time to start a countdown to Christmas!   :)

DJ--tide pen didn't work for us either, instead I used Shout wipes. My son got some soy sauce on his uniform when he was on liberty with us after PIR, and Shout wipes took it right out.

Dee, thanks for your information regarding the Christmas break, I've been wondering about that also.  You mentioned that they need to get their vacation approved, is this usually a problem?  Is this just a matter of ensuring they have adequate leave time?

My son bought a new camera since he's been doing so much sight seeing. Here's a pict. he sent us. (along Big Sur Mountain)  I love how the ocean meets the mountains. We just don't have that here in the East Coast.

Darlene, my son PIR'd 9/16.  He had to be at the airport at 0800 Saturday morning and his flight left at 1340 for Monterey.

Hi Everyone. Can you give me an idea of when your sailor departed from Chicago after PIR? Generally, such as Saturday morning, afternoon or evening? I have a hotel reservation through Sunday but we may not need to stay, depending on when her flight leaves. Just wondered if there's a fairly standard time for the flights. Thank you! I only have 11 more days....yay!

my KC thinks he will be able to come home from DLI Dec.16th for about 2 weeks. Does that sound right to any of you ladies?? My heart is breaking I miss him so much. But, if I startt a countdown til that day I think I will be okay.  Of course, I have to work Christmas Eve and Christmas day this year and I am so upset about that. Think I'm gonna try to take off one of the days.
