By the way - my son's goal is to graduate 7/29. God, I pray that he does. He was told hit would probably be the end of August but he is determined to get out of there before his birthday and his b-day is 7/30. So he needs to hurry up and heal b/c we want him out of there, too.!!!!

okay, I'd love to see the answers to your questions, too. I know that during his DLAB test he was told what languages he qualified for. He could not pick any language in a different category. I believe it was arabic, chinese, korean and russian. then in boot camp he was given a choice of I think 2?? So he picked the one that he believes will get him a good civilian job when he gets out (if he choses to get out). After his fracture, he was moved to a new date for DLI and his same language plus 1 other one was available. Then they told him where he would be going after A school for 3 years. He was told he had a choice to go out on a ship. Didn't sound to be mandatory.

kc mom- my bf graduates from boot camp july 29, and will obviously leave for cali that weekend... so i do not know if that means he will start right away of if there is more paperwork.

okay here are some of my questions (i feel like more will come to me as time gets closer):

1. do they get to pick there language and if not when will they find that out?

2. what is the basic set up of A school (maybe a timeline?)

3. do they get to come home for holidays... i think they get a certain number of days off during the month, also do those days count into their weekend because he said they had weekend liberty

4. as far as choices to be stationed at after they complete A school how does that work. are there different locations for different languages.

5. also I have seen a lot of people mention a C school, but I was under the impression that CTI did not.

6. is there 6 months on and 6 months off and how does that work?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Thanks Dee- Dr. gave him 8-10 weeks to heal. He and I have set a goal for 6 weeks and he has just been moved to phase 3 of Physical Therapy after 4 weeks. I think there are only 4 phases. So, we are really praying hard for a complete recovery. Phase 3 means he can run, a little. He wants out of RCU, wants to get OUT of boot camp and move on to Monterey really really bad!!!!

florida girl- when is your bf leaving b/c for Monterey? My son was supposed to graduate bc 6/17  and leave for DLI 6/18 but he fractured his foot so now he is there indefinitely.(this weekend is so sad for all of us... especially him)  But, he was given a new date for leaving to A school. New date is Sept. 12th. He is so lucky that he can still go to DLI as planned, and his language was still available.
