Hi. For the bed cover you can pretty much get anything she likes for her twin size mattress. My son took his favorite quilt and pillow cover. They are issued the regular olive drab green itchy cover with white bed sheet set. I think she can dress her bed up with pillows and stuff if she likes.

Question: My daughter will be going to Monterey the end of this month and she said she might need me to provide bed linens. Does anyone know the rules of what she can have and the size?

@DocRenee... Thanks Doc. Being able to chat with my son was a HUGE relief for my wife and I. He was chatting with me, my wife and our daughter, all at the same time on Facebook private message. What a multi-tasker!! Man I can barely walk and chew gum at the same let alone keep up with 3 ongoing chats.

I'm glad my Texas attitude came across positive... umm sometimes it comes across as very negative, depending on the situation. I always try to watch my P's and Q's respectively, so as not to offend anyone. But as you know, EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas... especially attitudes and opinions... so allot of times us Texas boyz, stick our size 11 Tony Lama's in our size 30 mouth.

"How da ya like me now...?" (Toby Keith)

Doc, as soon as I have any new news, hmm.. new news...poet or grammatical error? AHHH... who cares.. anyway, I'll update as soon as I hear anything, just on the outside chance it may help someone else. :D

Glad to hear from TxNavyDad. That news was really concerning me. We are truly like family here. I always felt CTI folks were a cut above and I still believe that so I think your son should be back soon. Somehow I believe this will all work out in the long term but it takes quite a bit of patience getting through the short term. But your Texas attitude is showing through (and that's coming from someone in LA) and it is a great attitude. I look forward to hearing some really good news about his re-enlistment very soon. TxNavyDad, that's news is great. I figured that everyone would be sent home for the holidays and just issued a new report date, and in some cases even re-classify to a different rate. All these options will be discussed at legal. And those that gave up a job might get some letter or something from legal. I know when my son quit Kohl's they told him that they would not have him quit but would put him down as Military leave and that way he could always come back. All the recruits will be handled on a case by case but nonetheless this was and is stressful but we pray everything works out in our loved ones favor. So Happy Holidays to you NavyDad!! Glad he is upbeat and ready to come home :-)

UPDATE: Got to talk to my son on Facebook private messages today for about 20 mins. It seems they have a few computers, video games and vending machines in the lounge where they get to go once or twice a day, depending on whether or not someones messes up and gets privileges removed like TV and internet. My son is doing fine, THANK YOU GOD!! and to all of you who have kept my son and our family in your prayers. It has worked. Anyway, he still is in the dark about why they moved him to Ship 5 other than a paperwork snafu and that he WOULD get a good reenlistment code so he could reenlist if he chose to. He said he should be meeting with legal next week to get the final options and why he was moved to ship5. He said he should be home for Christmas!!

YA BABY!!! THE BESTEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVA!!! YE HAW!!!

Ahem... lost it there for a bit... LOL... anyway, I will update with more as I said would. This really didn't update much other than I finally got to talk (or type) with my son and find out he really is. Even thru typing, you can still tell if someone is trying to smoke you, but he's not so am VERY relieved. He's getting to read allot, which he loves to do and said he needs another book, so he's looking forward to the next trip to the NEX to get another book.

Ok... enuff for now ya'll... I'm writing a small book here.. sorry.. just very excited and glad my SR is doing OK and he CAN'T wait to get home. ME EITHER!!

YE HAW!!... Crap did it again... sorry... Anyway, I will update any new info as it comes along... Thanks again to everyone... You all are truly a caring family.

@jangles... Thanks. I wish I knew more about the numbers and such that it would give me some insight as to whats going on, but unfortunately, I don't have anything new. I will however, update here as soon as I hear something new... Thanks very much for your concern. It is greatly appreciated.

TxNavyDad, I have been following your discussion..My heart ache for you and your son. What I was wondering was are these all potential CTI that are being sent home? Is that where the overage is or is it in the Navy as a whole? My son is graduating from BC on 12-21-12 and then off to Monterey to DLI. He was suppose to go into BC on Jan 8th, 2013, but was called in to go over two month's early. I have another son possibly considering this path...

@greenoak... You are so right. My son did give up a very good job with a VERY large firm. He didn't say it in so many words, but you could hear in his voice, despite what he said that he was really torn up over this. He had his heart set on becoming a sailor and giving back to our nation. I hope and pray that this does color his opinion and possibly change his attitude. The Navy would be a fantastic career choice for him, especially since he was already signed and approved for CTI.

@lisab4... My son was in the last stages of in-processing, which is the first 2 weeks of bootcamp. Yes he commented that were well over 100 SR's in ship 5. What other ship/div they came from, he didn't know. Just that there were allot of others there.
