How can they do this to these kids who may have given up a good job to sign up, this is not fair to them at all.

So are they being sent home before basic or after? And there was over a hundred? That's crazy!

@Lisa  Thank you for your advise. We are watching very closely. I spoke to his recuiter this morning who was shocked that this has happened. he was not aware our son was being sent home. he and his supervisor are looking into it to see whats going on.

@SarahsMom  So glad your daughter was able to reenlist. She will become an awesome sailor and protector of our nation. We are hoping for that whatever the issue is and my son wants to reenlist that there will be no more issues (whatever this one is). I know he will excel in whatever he puts his hands to and we are behind him, in whatever he chooses to do, 500%. Thanks again for the supportive words.

TxNavyDad, I'm very sorry this is happening to your son and the others.  I know he is a smart guy to have made it into this program at all.  So just make sure if he cross rates he picks something equally challenging.  My husband was in the nuclear power field, and I can tell you it is a VERY challenging program.  But it has brought great financial success for us after my husband became a civilian again.  Most importantly, please let him know that all us Navy parents are behind him 100 percent and want only the best for him and his shipmates.

TxNavyDad you could not be more right. These kids and their families are awesome.

My daughter was trited when she injured her legs training before leaving for bootcamp. She had to redo all her paperwork and get a new contract. She was very disappointed at the time, but it has really worked out to her advantage. So as I told her everything happens for a reason and eventually we usually understand why.

Good luck to your son and his fellow recruits being sent home. Tell him to keep his chin up. Hopefully they will all be able to get re-enlisted and back to Great Lakes after the Holidays!

@DocRenee... Thank you very very much for your concern and compassion. It is very deeply received and needed. I am always amazed at the depth of true military families, feeling the pain that others do and always there to comfort. There is no way you can explain this to someone other than experiencing it. A military family is truly a family with no boundaries, color or ethnicity. Thank you all so much for all the compassion shown to my family and I. We are truly blessed to have such a family as all of you. Thank you!

To Noni and TammySue, thanks for your great help and support. But to TxNavyDad, my heart goes out to you and your son right now. This is no fun not truly knowing what is happening. I think the ones going for CTI are quite specialized and I would hope a bit more serious, let alone a great help to their country. Let's hope and pray this all works out very, very soon. In the meantime, I will speak to my daughter in law about housing for married couples in Monterey. Very helpful! Doc Renee

When he goes to legal they will give him his options. If his career field is full he can reclassify, if its not full, then he can opt for a new report date. It does sound like they messed up in their recruit numbers and since this is no fault of the recruit and the recruits have contracts. The Navy has to have them see legal to present options, since the Navy would be incurring in a breach of contract situation.
Well I gotta run in to the building where we aren't allowed cell phones, so I won't be able to post any info. Hopefully we can get more information, but the sailors will have good options, his is just a delay. And yes you all have a point regarding the Defense budget, so this can play some part, in why they are sending them home in December and hopefully they report back after spending the holidays with family :-)

@NYRican... Thanks very much. I would dearly love to know the reason. Thanks in advance for anything you can find out.

@Laurie  That's exactly what my first impression was of sorts. On Nov. 19th, 450 recruits showed up at GL. Then on Nov.20th, my son showed up along with another large group. So someone screwed up somewhere...

Wow, I honestly have never heard of that code. It is an administrative action, and apparently the sailor has the option of reclassifying to maybe another career field or something. This is strange and I'll check on it. I work on base in a joint environment so I'm surrounded by sailors, marines, airmen and soldiers. I love that I can always ask someone if I have a question. Most of them have been to DLI and other standard training.
