(831) 372-6133, I think that's the # I called but my dad told me I couldn't book too far in advance but I forget how soon before the date I could book. If you are retired or active military you get preference. Maybe they can clarify how much in advance you can book.

KC'smom... whats the phone number to call? I wonder if you book in advance once we find out his graduation date?

Welcome TxNavyDad. When i tried to book a room at the Navy Lodge, they were full. I tried calling every day to check for a cancellation but never got lucky. The good news was, there were a TON of hotels just less than 3 miles away from the base. It  turned out fine in the end.

Greetings Ladies!! Our son is also headed to Monterrey after graduation on  1/18.

This NPS... can I poke for info on that the future? We are trying to get all ducks in a row as soon as possible...

Thanks again. I appreciate your great feedback. I can tell you had a great time. I look forward to seeing Monterey myself in the near future! Will definitely stay at NPS Lodge, per your great suggestion. Doc Renee

Hi DocRenee, as a matter of fact we cooked the rice, beans and turkey in his room. We made the stuffing and potato salad at NPS. These sailors have an awesome kitchenette that includes an above range convection oven that bakes and microwaves. I could not believe how delicious and super juicy the turkey came out! I told my son he should be able to make Cornish hens easily in that oven.
As for lodging the NPS is the best place cause the rooms are humongous and it's only $70.00 a night. We loved it :-)

NYRican924, you are a great mom. My son goes to Monterey Dec. 30th after a few days at home with us in LA. I think I will take after you and go up there next year and do the same thing if possible. I think you said you stayed at the NPS lodge and that's where I presume you cooked. I bet the other sailors appreciated the home cooked food. Great idea. What an exciting time in the lives of our sons! Take care and safe travels. Doc Renee

Finally headed back home to San Antonio after spending Thanksgiving week in Monterey. My son really enjoyed the meal we cooked and some of his friends and acquaintances came and got food. It was nice to meet his roommate and other friends/classmates. Now to prepare for returning in February for his graduation and help drive this car to Georgia :-)

Thanks both NYRican924 and green oak. My son is due to go to Monterey after boot camp and coming home for a few days. He is due there Dec. 30th. I'm excited for him and how wonderful to hear the professors speak a language with your kid! Great stuff! I live in LA area so what a great idea to go have Thanksgiving in Monterey. Not too many hours north for me. Also great tip on staying at the NPS lodge. Great price! Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!

Green oak I'm glad you get to spend time with your sailor for Thanksgiving. My son did the same exact thing last year. He flew in on thanksgiving and flew back on the Sunday. It was awesome. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours :-)
