Anyone have a son or daughter in CA for A school, as a CTI? Just curious about it, that's where my son will be going in about 5 wks. Good excuse for us to travel to CA and visit-hopefully!
Thanks ladies!
Daisy--super--okay--doing this and homework at the same time! maybe they can all be together as they travel the world. My nephew is stationed in SD now--he has been navy for over 10 years--also have two marines in the family--one is in SD also so they are hoping my son gets stationed there--my son has friends that will be staying longer at Corry--different rates--different school lengths...
They do there graduation in the Chapel at Corry. There are usually several classes that grad at the same time. It is pretty short but would not have missed it since we live 5 hrs away. It is more personable than PIR. They will stop and let you take pictures. All you have to do is stand. Not a lot of family there though. They do announce everyone by name though and they come up 1 at a time until the whole class is up there. Then they let you take pics of the whole class.
shirleyann I'm on here for my niece, not my daughter, but I love her and proud of her just the same. Trying to get all the info I can to pass on to my SIL and brother. They aren't quite tech savvy for all of this.
My SR is still in BC and won't PIR until 11/1 and report to Pensacola on 11/2. Sounds like your son will be gone by then. I know she was proud of the fact there aren't many women in her field.
I also have my husband's cousin's son who is SR in BC now with PIR 9/20 heading to Pensacola as a CTI. My husband and I are part of 2 proud Navy families right now.
My son said yes but not to bother to come because as he understands it they will be giving them certificates of completion and orders--very few graduate at a time with their rate--and it will be in a small room--that is the last he told me--he is fairly certain he will be allowed to come home after graduation and since his dad can't travel that is what we plan to do. It might be different for your daughter--she will have a better idea in a few weeks of what is going on. I'll check with mine to see if they have contact with the new CTR's and have him introduce her to some of the others--not many females in that rate that I've heard of--he only has one in his class and she if cross training from the army...
shirleyann is there a graduation ceremony for A school to go to?
Hi Daisy 13Ship02Div951--my son is a CTR. 6-28-13 was his PIR and he arrived in Pensacola on the 30th--it took him a little over a week to class up and he will be graduating from A school around October 18--he thinks many of them will be going to ships
Thanks navymom3 that is very helpful.
Here is a link to info on CTR they can be land or sea based.
