For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son went and bought a laptop the day after get to P'cola. He got off base priv a week ago. So I hear from him when he is able to use a friends phone. His dad screwed up with his cell phone and supposedly mailed his cell phone to me. But I have never received it. So he is trying to get it replaced. Then I should start getting calls from him.

They have more freedom when they report to A School. My son had his cell phone and was able to leave base. He even spent weekends with a friend of ours just over in Wisconsin if he didn't have duty.

Carolyn, That is why I always ask these kind of questions months ahead of time. These would not be sent out until winter. Thanks so much for asking him for me. If they are allowed to have them, I would be glad to send one to him. Or to you to send to him for Christmas,

Carolyn, You're just the lady I've been looking for! Several years ago I knitted scarfs for a group that sent them to guys in Afganistan for the winter. I had all the requirements, like length, color, etc. but I can't find them anymore. I know it is hot as hell there now but groups (like adopt a sailor) are starting to plan for the fall and winter. So would it be possible to ask your son if they can still get scarfs for gifts and what the requirements would be. Thanks so much.

Your son has learned a valuable lesson. In the Navy,as well as life, you have to stand up and fight for yourself. I'm so glad he got his bonus.

My son is a CTN and he says that, as of now, going to the sand box is strickley on a volunteer basis for his rate. As for your son's being E-2s. I would tell them that the CT rates have the fastest advancement in the entire Navy. I won't be long before he makes Petty Officer.
