Usually they leave the very next day.  You will have at least the 1st day/night (up to 9pm) with him.  What flavor of CT is he? (CTI, CTM, CTN, CTR, CTT)

I mainly work with deppers.  So have your son come to my  website and we'll  pump him up with information....

Hey all... I have a question hoping someone can help me out a little ....my son leaves for boot camp on Sept. 18...after graduation, how much time does he have with the family before being shipped out to A school?  All weekend?  or just a day?  any info is appreciated.  Thank you...love this site!

God bless the CTT's for what they learn in "A" school....

I know quite a lot about the state of residence thing.  If you guys look in the above area and click on the post called "Most sailors don't know this, so here is an item that will save them $1000's" it will tell you the rules....

google GA DVM and search the site. All the requirements should be listed under registration of a vehicle. My son was confused when he bought a car in Hawaii and DMV was the place that helped the most. Seems that they would have support for sailors on base.

Debbie in MD - Does your son pay income tax on his current income?  I am not familiar with the rules in your son's home of record state.  Georgia is a state that will tax military income, (I know this because my husband is a Georgia resident and being stubborn and won't change to my current residency that has no income tax) so I suggest that your son not get a Georgia drivers license.

I think that the yearly tax you're talking about has to do with the vehicle purchased.  If you're doing research on your own I would start there.  Legal should be able to help your son.

siningbird you can put CTR but you don't need to. Just first and Last name. You don't put E3 that is his pay rate. CTR is job title.

Just and update from the Navy:

This week the family of CTR3 John Larimer will be taking their son back to his hometown of Crystal Lake, Illinois for a graveside service.  The sailors in his department will be planning and coordinating the local service sometime the week of 30 July.  Exact detail on this event will be forthcoming.   They have not said if it will be open to the public or if it will be for his buddies and friends at his work space.

On Wednesday, 25 July, 0900 hrs, the building in which John worked will make an announcement over the Public Address System for all to stop and pause for a moment of silence to remember and pay tribute to CTR3 Larimer as well as all the victims in the recent Aurora Tragedy.  They are asking that when this announcement is made, please stop what you are doing and take time to reflect.

God bless you John....

Craig I hope the other prisoners get the chance at some time.  I thank God every time I hear my CTR's voice.
