Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Son is still in boot camp or training? Address it as: SR LAST NAME, FIRST NAME
If I remember correctly, it identifies the correct way to address letters/boxes in their form letter you got with their address on it.

Okay moms can someone tell me how to address their name on a letter or box. What goes in front of the name. Iv asked my son and have gotten no response. I hope someone can help. Thank you

Okay ladies mods are short for moduals and strand is specific job schooling. Sorry it took so long had to wait for my son to text me. Hope it helps some

Islander7 I am still learning and the more I learn the more I realize how little I do know. DC are a jack of all trades and that is probably why they take the Basic Engineering Core before actual DC. If he does not have a hold after PIR, the A school will be 8 - 10 weeks.

Islander7 im not sure what the mod are my son didn't tell me much when he was in A school Connie could probably answer that one. I do know my son got assigned to a destroyer in Hawaii. Im sure your son will do great. DC's are a jack of all trades they will be fire fighters, boat fixers, rescuers, etc. Islander 7 the LI is from a little town im from in ca i had to change it a while back so i chose the initials not realizing it stands for long island lol.

my son is leaving for boot camp 8/28
--he will be a DC. Can you ladies pls explain to me what the mods in A school are..and why engineering ?? Not sure ...but it seems like that's a little more then my son bargained for...any info on A school would be great...and Im also wondering if most DC's are on the bigger ships or cargo, destroyer etc...thanks!
