I know Katie doesn't like this pic - but she gave it to me - it's one taken on her ship!

Hi all....My son just graduated boot camp 2/11.  What an amazing trip it was... to see our son...to experience the graduation ceremony!  I am still on cloud 9!  He is DC and started school this week.  We've texted a bit the past few nights, but hard to get alot of info on what's going on.  Hoping he will call me if he gets some down time over the weekend.

I've been reading through the posts....it's all very interesting!

The 'Missouri' is actually the building she is in.  They name the buildings just like the ships;)  I believe that you have to have a certain # of sailors to begin a DC class, so she may be on 'hold' for a little while.  I remember Katie didn't start right away after she got back from Christmas break either.

Blessed Christmas!  Katie will be celebrating with friends in Japan, as she did her 21st birthday.  She will be home in less than 10 days;)

Katie went thru DC training starting Jan 2009 and is now serving out of Sasebo Japan. She had her laptop and a cellphone. The cell phone was mainly to keep in contact with her sailor friends on base who had different training schedules than she did. Katie got a break at Christmas and came home for a visit.

My son just graduated 11/19 and started A school in GL. Have no idea what to expect over the next 13 weeks and after that who knows. He is thrilled to be in the DC school. We just arrived home the other day from GL after a 13 hour drive. Still recovering from that emotional but wonderful weekend.
