Hi Tracie!
Welcome. I know what you mean about trying to prepare yourself. I am on this site daily as well. Obsessive compulsive I guess. How old is your daughter? Even with my son being a little older I'm still very interested in this process. Hardest part is being helpful without being overbearing. Ugh! I'm more than willing to let him spread his wings but having a super hard time not at least pointing in the right direction. Once a mom always a mom right. Him being unhappy today really makes me want to step in and help. Walking the fine line today.

Are you finding all of the information you need to prep for BC?

Hi Tracy welcome to N4M

My daughter is the same......she actually ships 27th.  We are in Alabama.  I was more than overwhelmed this time last week downloading and reading up on everything.  She is so excited...maybe they will end up together.  She is going in as an AS (far cry from hospital corp) but she was ready to go and signed up for it.

My son ships on August 22nd and I am thankful for his recruiter pointing me in the direction of N4M  I am finding the information very helpful and it is answering many questions that I would have been driving my son crazy with.  He is also learning a thing or two.  He is soooo ready,  I however  am not!

Hi ADKnavymom, my son also ships August 22nd. You are the first one I have seen with the same date. Where is he leaving from? Mine is shipping out of Boston.

Albany New York     Love your logo :)

Hi All, my son will be leaving for boot camp aug 15th, we will arrive in tampa on aug 14th and he will swear in on aug 15th (his 18th bday) are there any other deppers that will be going to the processing station in tampa to swear in on the 15th?

Another thing to look at is FB, I have not found a an Aug group yet for us but I know there is one for the recruits.  My Recruit is on it.  Oh they are recruits until they pass battlestations, a night or 2 before PIR (graduation)

I have been reading site and TRYING to prepare BUT it all so overwhelming that I just can seem to get started

Hang in there Mom's, if you have any questions's feel free to message me.  This is my 3rd go around once as a wife and twice as a mom, I will try to answer anything I can.

Look for a Blue Star Mom group in your area.  BSM has been around since 1942 and we support all branches.  Its so helpful to be around others that are going or have gone through the same thing.

hi micka, can you tell me if when my son goes to A school for registration (after PIR) can we (family) go along with him while he registers to see where he will be staying??

Hi paigesmom! I know, overwhelming isnt it. I started on the main page of this website, my favorite link is the "Things to do the month before your sailor leaves". Really great ideas. Start with the wallet and small items. Move to legal form suggestions. I've read a lot of the discussions on how things worked. Just a few each day. It has really helped me understand the process and when/how things will proceed. Knowledge is power! There's many great ladies on this site willing to answer just about any question. So ask away. Good luck!
