HI my son completed MEPS yesterday and his ship off date is March 29, 2018. His Job will be an MA in the Navy?
My question is if he ships off on that date and finishes BC on time what might be the approximate date of his Graduation? May 25, 2018?? I want to plan on being there, but need to know in advance.
2nd question is PDays in addition to the 8 weeks of BC?
His PIR (graduation) date will be either 8 or 9 Fridays from his arrival. Approximately one week to 10 days after his arrival, you will receive a letter with his official mailing address and his PIR date, plus a brochure. It is best to wait until you get the official PIR date to start booking your travel plans. His likely date will be June 1, 2018. But that's a guess, based on the fact that he will arrive late in the week. Somewhere on this site is a description of how each week of boot camp works. Here is one that might help. https://www.thebalance.com/navy-boot-camp-4057224
Good Morning spomed here are some sites that you can read on so maybe you will have an Idea. Welcome to Navy for Moms, you have come to the right place.
Can recruits take anything to BC with them?
Recruits should go with what they have on their backs, their cell phones, and not much else. (See Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....)
What will the first day be like at BC?
How long is the "I'm here!" call and when will s/he be able to call again?
When will "The Box" come?
It will usually arrive by FedEx within a few days, but it can take up to 2 weeks at times.
By counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be 05/25/2108 for those who ship on 03/29/2018. Since he will ship at the end of the week, it could be 06/01/2018 if he is held over for the next week’s TG. That is less likely to happen in the spring than in the summer or in November and December, but is still possible. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what to expect.
I left info on the MA rating and more on your My Page.
Thank you for the info. Ill just wait and see. I hope its the weekend of 5/25 that would work so much better for me and my family, but either way we will be there to see him graduate!
spomed I have put a lot of info in regards to shuttle, hotels, places to eat on boot camp for moms. You may want to see and get ideas.
spomed, You are very welcome. It is great that you are planning to be at PIR. Make sure your future Sailor is ready to ship by working out and going over the DEP Guide. See Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC.
Army/Navy, MA is Master at Arms. Your recruit has a contract within the nuclear field.
I was so excited to find out that my husband and & I can our son swear in before he leaves to BC. Really looking forward to that.
That is Awesome News! Best wishes to Him and May his Journey be all the Best! Welcome to the site!
I was wondering if he does not opening a Navy Federal account is it of to just have information for the one he has here in Miami. There is only one branch here in Miami and it is not close to where we live at all. What are your thoughts or advice?
