My son leaves for bootcamp December 20, 2011.  Is there anyone here that has the same date for their son/daughter?

You might want to try the December boot camp group.

One thing you need to know is that they WILL move up your recruit's report date, by at least a week. All recruits scheduled to ship in the last two weeks of December are shipped to Great Lakes early, then are put in holding for a week or two.

His new report date will be between Dec. 11 and Dec. 14. They do this every year, why they don't inform the recruits right away, I don't know.

Go to this discussion for more information on December boot camp.

I totally agree with Arwen.  Joining the special groups are alot of fun....
I looked around in the December boot camp group and did not find anything current.  Arwen - as far as moving the date up - I am in Memphis TN and my son is leaving from ND.  I was hoping to go to the "formal" swearing in right before he leaves.  I suppose I will not find out the actual dates until the last minute?  Do you know how far in advance the recruits find out when they will be moved up?

Here is a list of Deppers leaving in December on NavyDEP.  You may want to pass it on to your son.

December 2011
12/06 - mms browning (MMS)
12/06 - Jason1142 (MA)
12/13 - Corpsman_UP (HM)
12/13 - Rellsworth243 (AECF)
12/27 - Lunaruby23 (UT)
12/29 - Ciprian (CE)

If he leaves on Dec 20th, then he will swear in that day.  His Navy pay date begins that day, and it is used to determine his longevity pay raises.

Thank you Craig - I am not really sure what all of those are besides the dates.  Some others have been telling me that his date will for certain get pushed up because it always does and they won't know until closer till.

The recruiters should know what day your son will actually leave by early November.  Last year the recruiters had it in October, but did not tell the families until they asked.

His report date will most likely be Dec. 14. They tend to send all the late December recruits on the last possible day before MEPS closes for the holiday. Unless he lives very close to MEPS, he will be going to MEPS the day before, will stay the night at a hotel (tab picked up by the Navy), and you can see him in the morning at MEPS.

my name is christina. I leave December 6th

adams - We will pump you up here with information.  You'll know more stuff than most.  When your PIR group is formed, you will probably be providing the other ladies with info.

Let me explain a couple of these, I guarantee you're not the only mom that doesn't know this.

Let talk about:  12/06 - Jason1142 (MA)

Jason1142 is his user name.  Much like your's is:  adams_mom.

He leaves on December 6th.

His rating (job) will be MA.  What the heck is MA?  It's Master-at-Arms.  Basically like a cop.  So how would a mom know what MA is?  Just go to this website, it list them all... http://www.navydep.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=36

Lets do another:  12/29 - Ciprian (CE)

Ciprian is his user name, is leaving on December 29, and will be a CE.  What the heck is a CE? It's a Construction Electrician.  Again, you will find this at the above link.

Now lets do a hard one:  12/13 - Rellsworth243 (AECF)

Rellsworth242 is leave on December 13th and will be a AECF.  What the heck is a AECF?  Well this one is hard because not only will you have to go to the above website, but you will also have to click on the link for AECF.  You'll will find in the write up that AECF is actually a group program that allows the needs of the Navy to dictate if the sailor will be a ET = Electronics Technician or a FC = Fire Controlman (A guy that shoots missles).  Again, these sailors haven't a clue which one until they go through the school and the Navy says, heck we are short on FC's, make the next class or make the majority of the sailors in the class FC's.

We have alot of crazy ratings in the Navy.  You'll hear so many of them....  Now you know how to look them up.

I'm leaving for boot camp on December 19th, 2011. I'm aware that my date will be moved up before then. However, I'm looking to connect with others that are leaving around that same time! :)

My son left for boot camp December 1st, 2011.  Anyone else have a son or daughter in that group?

My daughter left for boot camp on 8 December 2011.  Anyone else in that group?  I really appreciate this site.  It is really helping me understand a lot.  Having been an Army brat, Army wife, this is a new ballgame for me!

It's more of a football game.

Just about 1 hour ago, NAVY (27) BEATS ARMY (21)....  GO NAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
