Information

Div 818 PIR 9/2

As our recruits get furthur into bootcamp I thought that maybe some of the Moms in Division 818 PIR 9/2 would like to get more specific information. I'm brand new at this but thought I'd try and maybe some more knowledgable Mom's will help us.

Lydia,I agree with you my son said he works out all of the time. He said he swims in the morning, eats breakfast, class, exercises again, eats, marches, he said they lift and listen to rock and roll. Can't imagine he or any of the other guys are out of shape. Praying they are ready for their A schools. I believe our recruits are getting it together. I am staying til Sunday no matter what, I will take any time with my son that is given and enjoy. My son also said in one of his earlier letters that the BC program they are in is only 2 yrs old, so maybe they will be better prepared.

Hi swanksmom, no my husband is going diver and will do his prep at Great Lakes before heading out to A school in FL. A few days or a few hours make it really hard for me to decide whether I should bring our 2 small children. I don't want the short amount of time to be hard for him or the kids. Our 4 year old would definately have trouble saying goodbye again only hours after seeing her dad. I think that is why I was so worried. I want to do what is best for my children and my husband. It just takes planning. The Navy is making the planning part hard! hahaha surprise, surprise... :)

CKH - Sorry I freaked you out. That was the last thing I intended to do. My son has a lot of wonderful qualities but conveying important details has never been one of them so I was looking for confirmation elsewhere. I'm hoping he is wrong as I too was looking forward to spending all weekend with him. My son's letter also said that everyone seems to be adapting better to their new life so that makes me rest a little easier. He sounded so tired when he called last week and was discouraged about their division being the worst one. My son is extremely competitive so this would have hit him hard but hopefully the ones that are left now will pull together and improve. It sounds from everyone elses posts that this is beginning to happen and they're working better as a team. Only four weeks to go! Yea!

Hi Janet, thank you for the information. I was having tough day and I think I may have prematurely freaked...sorry.
I received letters from my husband today but with no solid info. He seems to be under the impression that they can spend the weekend with family but again I stress most of this info is coming from rumors. His tone is a little different, more upbeat but really ready to get on with the next phase of training. He said he knows every single recruit in the division by name. No major issues as of last week, so it sounds like things are looking up. :)

CHK - My son is not always the best source of information which is why I was seeking confirmation from others who are in the diving program. His letter says he is grad n go so he will only have Thursday afternoon to hang out. Later in his letter he says that he may get more time with us that night though since they are not flying anywhere but he wasn't sure and he'll let me know. I am hesitant to change the plans I have made until someone else hears the same thing or he confirms it absolutely.
