Information

Div 818 PIR 9/2

As our recruits get furthur into bootcamp I thought that maybe some of the Moms in Division 818 PIR 9/2 would like to get more specific information. I'm brand new at this but thought I'd try and maybe some more knowledgable Mom's will help us.

Hi! My husband said many of the same things you did kk. They "suck" right now but he truly believes that they can get it together. They are tired and they make mistakes. There are some very immature people, but he said the others instead of screaming and swearing should try to mentor them. He enjoys his role of inspecting and teaching people the right way to do stuff. (this is definitely more his style he is not a yeller) It is a difficult situation as the div as a whole is not looking good. He feels like they do more pushups and are punished so much that it takes away from their training and studying. He wishes they would realize that. This Chief they have has supposedly NEVER lost a div competition and they are not at all up to par. It sounds like they had a pep talk and my husband says that the camaraderie is starting to develop. He also said that they "have a way of discovering who has heart here" and as much as he would like to say that everyone will make it through, he is certain that is not the case.

It sounded to me like they have already weeded people out with the numbers I heard from Shan. I wish them all the best. I hope that for all their sakes they can come together. I believe this will make them stronger not only physically but mentally. This will teach those who were generally not leaders to step up and lead. This is a great opportunity for these men to be men. I believe they would not have been chosen to do this if they were not smart or capable. All we can do is hope for the best and support our guys, build them up and help them see the importance of working together and being a team. I wish it was not so hard for them right now. Just think Ladies 35 more days and they will have made it through!!! :)

Delete Comment You know I called medical to check on him they called his Ship and low and behold Ben answered the phone because he is on watch. So he got permission from his RDC to call me - no they did not make fun of him because get this moms - Ben is on the of Div Mentors. They pick him and a few out who behave themselves and are top rated to be mentors to some who are having problems... They have promoted him up to Port Watch (he told me what that was but Im not sure) anyway it is a desired position within and he got it. Also, his shin splints are going to be okay - and he will NOT get set back. Apparently his RDC's really like him and he said they are mean son of guns but they are the top in the Navy and he respects the heck out of them. He said they said really funny stuff when they are mad and he gets in trouble but love the heck out of him. He said he was standing in the RDCs office and he said he bark out ... LAST NAME CANT WRITE IT HERE..... STAND IN PLACE AND MARCH SON .... so Ben did....He said then he bark out turn commands etc... Ben was thinking what the heck.... Well, when he told him to stop he said VERY GOOD SON YOU HAVE RYTHEM YOU WILL NOW LEAD THE PACK IN MARCHING! Wooow - for those who dont know - that is an honor that few guys get! Ben said that they are shipping kids home right and left but that there are some guys that are serious and doing very well - and coming together! Soooooo whew..... I feel much better - His group were supposed to be able to make phone calls yesterday Ship 4 Div 818 moms BUT some could not because of their jobs.... so they will be calling this upcoming next week.... HUGS moms

Good Morning ladies,
I work for the Navy and let me tell you that Sailors come from all walks of life and it is extremely hard for them to all learn a new way together. I can tell you that it seems like all our boys have come from a loving family and you would be surprised how many of the recruits come in with major emotional and physical abuse to escape. These recruits don't know how to react appropriately in this new setting so it takes them awhile to adjust. The RDCs know what they are doing and they do want all of them to succeed.

Thank you KK...You put it so eloquentley. I just hoping that by now they were a great example for the other Div. I am also so stressed/exhausted and on my last leg of my trip heading north. A major move on Mon. and job hunting. Lydia, I hope the best for your son, whatever is decided. Prayers for all of them.

Hi All....so happy that everyone is receiving letters and even phone calls! Awesome!!!.....I guess raising a son alone with absolutely no help at all is proving to be good at this point in his life, although it never seemed to be for the last 18 years for myself or for him. My son was ironing, doing the laundry, making his own bed, putting the garbage out, vacuuming, emptying the dishwasher, scrubbing tubs, cleaning mirrors, working at the age of 12 y/o etc., riding his bike to and from his 2 part time jobs since 15 y/o when I was working & not around to do it all. I do not want my son to change at all...ever.... he has been very adult like and mature beyond years from a very young age....he graduated H.S. a year early because it seemed most of his peers seemed, immature, out to impress, self absorbed and "hey everybody look at me! I am a big jock with an ego the size of Texas, screaming for attention type". I did hear from him today and it seems that their div. is doing the worst of all due to some that are way to immature and cocky to realize they are now NOT the BMOC= Big Man on Campus...seems they do not have the self discipline to keep there mouths shut and zipped...so the entire div. takes a huge HIT ..i.e, no mail, no sleep, only one flag after all this time...the OTHER divisions look like they have been there for months! On Point and very impressive!!! They are still struggling to "get it together" at the cost of a few defiant, loud mouthed immature, not ready for military life kids. Constant liberties taken away at the cost of a few. A very sad state of affairs for the "cream of the crop" Spec Ops. He has not been my "little boy" for a long time, he has been a very self disciplined, young man for quite some time.. articulate, with more manners, command of the English language and a level head than a a lot of men twice his age. I am guessing there are a quite a few of top athletes in this Div..(PT= scores who have not quite got over themselves yet....or realized that this is not fun and games and not take away the experience of GOOD BC memories...ruining it for all in the Div. I pray to God my son does not change one bit. He was a stellar example of true real man when he left. Sorry, I'm not sugar coating anything here. Just keeping it real. BTW, they started with 109 "kids"...and are down to 89...more to go. This Div. has got to rise to the top...that is expected of them, at least by this point in time.
