Div 818 PIR 9/2

As our recruits get furthur into bootcamp I thought that maybe some of the Moms in Division 818 PIR 9/2 would like to get more specific information. I'm brand new at this but thought I'd try and maybe some more knowledgable Mom's will help us.

Ladies
Just reread the 2 page letter I received from Rich today for the third time. He says it's pretty tough with alot of yelling and screaming "picture the drill sgt from Full Metal Jacket and multiply by 100." He said some of the guys in 818 have friends who have already gone through bootcamp and they mentioned their RDC's by name. "apparently they are infamous" But he understands why they are so tough because their jobs will be keeping people alive.

He also says that you can see a big difference between the recruits in other divisions and 818 and the way they are treated. "Everyone on base looks at the 800 divisions as the cream of the crop. We are held to a much higher standard"
but on the bright side, once bootcamp is over I think I will be very prepared for dive school."

"I would obviously rather be back in Delaware, but I know once I get through this I'll be in good shape mentally and physically."

"As I write we are getting yelled at. CHIEF just pounded a filing cabinet. I GOTTA GO. I miss you guys." "LOVE YOU GUYS"

He also mentioned that morale is pretty low, but I guess that's part of the game. They need to bring each other up.

Hope you don't mind the quotes but thought he could say how he felt better than I.

Welcome Missing Thatcher to Div 818 Spec Ops. Hopefully this will be the place where we find out what our guys and girls are doing on a daily basis. Let's make these next few weeks go by as quick as we can.

OKAY moms - I just spoke with Ben's recruiter (gosh they really love Ben) anyway - The Spec Ops Director was actually Ben's first recruiter before he took that position - anyway - Perez said that "most likely" the guys in Bens job Crew Rescue Swimming will likely go straight to A school in FL - the divers and SEALS will stay in GL a bit until they go to their schools. So I dont recall what yalls guys are doing - that is something to think about. However, he is going to call The Spec Ops officer whom I know and gave a hug to when he was Bens recruiter at first and find out for me for sure. So maybe in a day or two Ill have more to tell. He also said that the guys really wont know much them selves until the half way mark. So even they prob dont know yet. So CKH - that makes sense then for your hubby! Richsmom I dont recall what you said your sons "job" is going to be. Anyway - yes Laptops and cell phone - they are gonna love us!

CKH Rich told us that pre dive school at GL was one month per his recruiter. I've also read that on a US Navy site talking about Navy Divers
