Hello everyone.. As of today I am the proud mother of a Navy Sailor and he is my only child. It has been a hard transition. Now that I can talk to him on the phone I am feeling a lot more at ease with the lifestyle changes. It was a hard eight weeks and I know it will get better but I still have those days.

hello all... another mom of an only... PIR in 16 days!  I cannot wait to see my son.  Today has just been one of those days.  I have not had one in a while.  I might have to try the screaming thing in the car on the way to work tomorrow.  College was a breeze compared to this.

Hi everyone, November was the last time I heard my son's voice.  Deployment has been the hardest thing yet.  I think it's because of not having the community of past events, like BC, A School, etc.  My local N4M group is gret though.  I attend the get togethers whenever I can.  I think the hardest thing is that my family (who are very close) seems to have mostly forgotten him.  Out of sight out of mind.  Not so with mom!  He'll be passing the 3 year mark in a month or so.

I am right there with you crazydaisy!  My Sailor's PIR was last June; my Soldier graduates from OSUT at Ft. Benning next month.  The first thing you do is learn the difference between HOOYAH and HOOAH!  LOL  Message me anytime!

That's great that you all got together. Would love to do this with any central Florida moms out there.

My son's PIR was Friday and it went beautifully. So proud of him and all the new sailors. You can see all the work that went into it. Now he's in Pensacola and very excited to get started with his classes.

Four of us met through N4M Illinois, and met for lunch today.  It helps to meet with others and talk about your sailors and their lives before and other boot camp, classes and deployments.

Tylers mom, when is PIR?

Comment by Tylersmom on April 22, 2012 at 1:43pm

Thanks all of you.  I thought saying goodbye for bc was hard, then not having him for Easter was hard, I am trying to think it will get easier but it seems to get harder.  Right now all I am looking forward to is PIR to be able to see him.  I am so proud and sad at the same time.

Tylersmom,  Last Sunday afternoon I went into the basement of my home and screamed like I was being murdered.  I don't think any of the neighbors heard me and it did help for a minute.  I miss my son so much too.  We have to get used to saying goodbye to them but it just leaves a hole in my heart
