Welcome Sharpmom!  All of us here understand what you are going through.  Transitioning to an empty nest is very difficult and takes time so go easy on yourself.  We are here if you need support or just to vent.  One thing I've learned is that no one else understands what a Navy mom is going through except other Navy moms so thank goodness we have sites like this were we can connect and know that we are not alone.

carolskitchen - So very sorry for your loss.  I will have you in my thoughts and hope that sweet memories of Lucy will bring you some measure of peace and comfort.

Good morning to all of my fellow emptynesters. Our daughter is currently in wk 3 of BC. I have been quite a mess since she left. I finally got 2 letters from her as well as a phone call on Thursday. Hearing her tell me that she is doing okay and is determined to make it through BC has really helped ease my mind. I still miss her terribly but am not quite as emotionally distraught as before.

I have been on the N4M's website for a while now but finally decided I needed to join this group as well.  I told my husband that it is a good thing we still like each other because now it is just the two of us at home with the cat and the granddog! lol.

@ carols_kitchen, I am so sorry for your difficult day today. We had to make that incredibly hard decision for one of our beloved pets a couple of years ago. It was a very dificult day.

In a few minutes, we take our pound puppy, Lucy, to the vet.  It will be our final good bye.  Our sailor was home a few weeks ago and knew she was doing poorly.  We rescued an abandonded dog over 12 years ago---and she gave us lots of love.

Farewell our friend.

Tenn Navy Mom-

Easter was nice.  I played at church and sang so it was very special to me.   It was great getting to talk with my corpsman son, too.   I took my husband out to eat since it is not as much fun cooking for just the two of us.   I am hoping my corpsman son will be home sometime this summer!   I am sure all in good time.

Thank you for keeping me in your prayers.  I will do the same for you!

   Blessings to you!

   Mary

Tina:  That is really hard coming home to a really empty home every night.  About a year ago my husband was working night shift and my daughter who was still home at the time was always out with her friends.  I really hated it.

My Son has been gone since the beginning of Dec and I have actually talked to him once on the phone.  we mainly correspond thru email.  He emails me about once a week, sometimes more.  I just depends on how busy he is.  However his girlfriend has receive a couple more phone calls than I.  He also sends me "public service announcements" - mainly whats going on in his life aboard the ship - for me to read at church and to forward on to other family & friends. He also emails me items he wants me to send him :-) (this is where I see the "once a mom, always a mom" come into play).  So I hope this helps, I know its not a lot, but I'll take as many emails from him that I can get.  It definitely brightens my day.  I'm learning to about life of a Navy mom and life of having no children at home.  I got hit with a double whammy... after my son went to bootcamp, my husband got a new job working nights, so by the time I get home from work, he is gone and doesn't get home until about the time I get out of bed in the a.m. to get ready for work.  So I have definitely felt the emptynest thing.  it hits harder on some days than others, I just keep reminding myself... it's God's way not mine and he does have a plan for all of this.
