Let's hope it's a bunch of work about nothing, but in either case, they are prepared.

Well, Andy says he is safe thus far in Portsmouth, VA area.  He says all tunnels are closed till they are checked for earthquake damage.  Said it's like a zoo as they also prepare to batten down the hatches, subs, ships, boats and cranes in case of the hurricane.  He hasn't made it home yet (thank goodness he's on the proper side of the tunnel and doesn't have to travel through one for his sub in dry dock.)

Moms!!!! do not stress!!! understand that our sailors are going thru a lot of change in their lifes right now. Lets not be selfish and be mad that "he" called only because he needed something. They need to concentrate on what they are learning. They don't have time right now to work out things that are not working. Like cell phone service and such. Yes i would love the hear from my son everyday. but realize that is not going to happen. Lets help them make these changes in life without added stress.

I just found this group.  I wish I would have known about it on June 7th when my one and only son left for boot camp.  He is 20, but hadn't moved out yet.  In fact his wife and their baby had been living with us for 16 months!  They all moved out on March 31st.  I was having a difficult time with that, but now he is in A school and I miss him.  I do get to see my grandson almost every Saturday, but that will end when my son gets stationed somewhere.  Our house seems so quiet and big compared to when they were living here.
