Hello Sisters
I will not have a computer Thurs-Sunday. Please look out for each other just as you do already. Know you will all be in my heart as I meet other Moms from across the country. We will be working and having fun as we plan more packing parties for our beloved deployed troops.
A reminder from our son's briefing after the latest news:
Take any signs out of your yard promoting you are a proud family of a US Navy sailor.
Do not talk to strangers about your sailor and Navy.
Do not wear Navy Mom logo wear unless you are with a group.
Be more aware than ever of OPSEC.
We don't know who the friends of the bad guys are, so just be aware.
Hugs to you all, Carol
Thanks, ebigirl! I wish it were my 29th. That was soooo long ago it is hard to remember! :) You are lucky to have heard your son's voice. I missed the call, but his dad talked to him. I am dying to see him. I understand the crying yourself to sleep, ditto for me. My sailor is my only child that we thought that we would never had, so I understand when you wrote, "he will always be my 'little boy.'"
Happy Belated Birthday Velvetlace! Was this your 29th again? LOL!!!
Dee, I know exactly where your coming from. There have been times over the past 8 weeks that I didn't want to even get out of bed. Thank goodness the dog MADE me get up! I've cried myself to sleep more nights than I can count.
This past Thursday (the 28th) is the very first day I have heard my son's voice since he called after arriving at RT on March 9th. Just hearing his voice sent me into tears. Then he told me he was a US Sailor and the flood gates opened. The pride and love that I feel for him is unexplainable. He is my only child, and is now a man. I did tell him though that he will always be my "little boy".
The picture on my facebook page is my son when he was 18 months old. It is one of my favorites, with his big blue eyes and eyelashes. Time does go by rather slowly in the beginning, but the pace picks up very quickly about half way through.
RTC is taking very good care of your sr. I hope your feeling better about this soon, and don't be a stranger. The people on this website are awesome, and we are all "in the same boat" (pun intended)!!! :)
Sue--- Happy Birthday. I had a birthday on Weds. the 27th. Hope you have the best day ever.
Mary
