We told our son to box up what he wanted saved, and put in the Goodwill pile anything else.  Well, he never did.

So, when we drove a u-haul to Goose Creek for his first apartment, we took EVERYTHING.  He goes, what is this $%*^?  We said, we told you to sort it, you didn't.  So, once you get your furniture arranged, look through it.  If you don't want it, you know where the dumpser is!

Well, he was pretty happy when he unsorted all sorts of electronic connectors.  And, some friends were over for lunch and took a bunch of stuff, including all the laundry baskets we packed stuff in. (we flew back home, so nothing came back with us.)

Hi all.  I haven't been on here in awhile and I read a few pages back.  I have twins who graduated from high school in May--one went Navy and one went Army.  When one son was at Basic, I moved my sewing stuff into his room.  His bed, dresser, etc. were still there but rearranged.  He was NOT happy about it when he came back on leave.  In hindsight, I probably should have waited.......

Well now all my son's clothes that were on his floor are washed and I will be doing one load a day from now on until we can get everything done in his entire room.  I can't even get his closet doors open, so my husband is going to have to take off one of the doors so we can get the stuff out.  I am not kidding either.  It's been years since I have tired to open it.  I learned a long time ago kids need privacy.

I couldn't clean my sons room right away, I walked in,sat on his bed and balled like a baby. I waited a week or so and then cleaned up. I sometimes go in there just to feel him.

Bob didn't go within 100 yards ( so to speak) to A room until I started screaming uncontrollably. Lol

Ok this is gross I found bowls of food under his bed in his dresser drawers. Ayer he left for bootcamp I thought I would fall apart but when I was cleaning that room I got so mad I was glad he was gone for about 2weeks

Wow, my son's room is such a mess. I just keep the door closed! I'm not sure what he wants. The cable is hooked up. Computer, laptop, other gaming systems gathering dust. I guess I should get busy! Mine was same as yours, but I should have been more disciplined. I think I didn't want to admit he was leaving for SO long!  I need to get busy in there!

Thanks to for all the "mom" support!

Our son is not as young as some that have left home. Went to college and lived at home, then went into the Navy as a delayed sailor.

He (son) did pack up some of his room before he left. Some of the thing he wanted thrown out weren't...when I dumped the bag out there were things for his cell phone and gaming...I think it was a "sweep" the arm across the counter and bag it".

His room is now spotless, except for the carpet and the walls.! It hasn't been cleaned. I have cleaned very thing so far..closet inside and out, striped the bed (all of it, no surprises there!) and remade the bed. Took all his clothes out of his dressers and wash everything again, refold things. - even the "boy in the box".

Packed all outdoor gear...won't be using it anytime soon. Left cable hooked up in his room...doesn't cost anymore but can sit in there and watch want I want.

When he does come to visit it will be clean!

We did agree to wait until BC...but the daughter issue hasn't been settled. I guess I can do things in small steps.

I thought I would have a harder time with this...I'm from a large family (1st of 11) and my husband is 2nd of 4. My youngest sibling is only a few years older than our daughter....so there's always children at least here.

So...for now it's clean and the cat has claimed it for his own!

Again...thanks for listening to me whine....
