Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

RED CROSS CONTACT INFO:

In the event of an emergency within the sailor’s family, where you feel the sailor must be notified and considered for Emergency Leave, you must notify the American Red Cross through the national headquarters in Washington, DC (1-877-272-7337) or via their website www.redcross.org.

Yes, you will cry in the grocery store when you put back his special snack. When you hear a patriotric song. When you fix dinner and there's an empty seat.

But, it only prepares you for the BEST cry---when you get to see that recruit who has become a SAILOR!

Comment by Teresa43insc on February 21, 2011 at 4:16pm: My son left on Valentine's Day the hardest thing I have ever had to do was let him go...I have cried so many tears, I received the box on Friday 2/18/2011 and more tears, I know there are more to come and its anytime day or night and there is no control of when it happens, He is my only child and it feels like my heart is being ripped out. I am so waiting to get his form letter and a letter from him....

Which would be a wonderful vacation for us to go visit him. Particularly today -- MInneapolis is in the middle of a winter storm -- expecting 12-20" by tomorrow afternoon.

Showers running in the basement, kids voices coming up through the radiator vents, feeding a crew of young men every morning. To top it off, the person who gave us our group of 4 guys had no idea that when she told me where they are coming from, that it is a small town near where our sailor was born!

Do you suppose I will sleep much with the chatter going on here Fri-Sun? Or feel down when they leave?

I have never experienced anything like this.!!! getting divorced was nothing compared to the feelings I have had. I can not even imagine what it must be like for the Mother's of our sons and daughters over seas!!!

I just ask GOD to help me to be strong for my SR. God has answered my prayers", I AM STRONG" and so are YOU!!!!!!

So excited that I cried again, I feel like I've cried a bizillion tears since he's left. But anyways, I can't wait to get his letters out to him. I really appreciate both of your input, this really helps. I now know there are people out there who have felt the same and who can understand how I am feeling and who understand the random moments that I just breakdown & cry. Thanks again.
