Hello Ladies, Just joined this group, I usually follow the Nuke moms. I am feeling a little sad tonight.  This Wed. it will be one year since my son (youngest) left for boot camp.  Seems so long ago.  I just saw him over Christmas.  My daughter is also Navy.  She graduated Penn State May 2010 but she mostly lived in State college the past 4 years.  Her ship just left today for a month or so, she is stationed in VA.  My son is in Goose Creek, SC. My kids are grown up now and I'm still processing that they won't ever live at home again, they are on their own.  Today seems to be harder to let go.  My hubby went on the March for Life walk today and won't be home for a while.  Just me and my dog for now.

Renick....Do you have a hobby?  Do you knit, sew or scrapbook?

Lots of us dive into our hobby.  I sew and quilt so i use my skills to help out sailors out on deployment.  I make pillowcases for them.  I also use the scraps from the piilowcase to make quilts that i donate to our local veterans hospital.

there are so many things that you can do out is small towns.  Good luck.

It's only been 5 weeks for me... he's only halfway through bootcamp. How do I get busy?  I'm in a small town and am recovering from surgery as well. Are there any empty nest support groups on the internet?

I miss watching Sunday night football with him... he would lose interest and go in his room and leave the door open so I could hear him laugh on his computer games. I miss the stupid computer games even...

We actually went to differenct churches, as sailor boy went with his friends.  Then, as he got to be 16 or so, hubby and I usually invited him out to eat, but he would want to take a nap.  Ineveitably, we would get about 20 miles away, and the cell phone would ring.  "Where are you guys?  Darn, well, bring me back something to eat."  Miss those silly phone calls.

I miss having Sunday breaksfast before church with everyone at home.

Question for a day.  What Sunday tradition do you miss having with your sailor(s)?
