Welcome to Lisa and Betsy.  Sometimes those four walls just seem so bare.  We really missed the kids who all stayed at our house, ate up cheap spaghetti, and played video games downstairs.  The older dog went nuts at the front door whenever anyone drove down the street playing a loud car stereo.

Betsy, I cannot imagine having the hubby 2000 miles away.  We had a hard enough time when my husband was just 80 miles away till we sold our home. Our sailor was just 3 years old at the time.  He would cry and have me drive him through the town trying to find his "best friend" until he calmed down.

Take care.

Hello Everyone, I'm Betsy.  I am/was a SAHM (for the last 5 years) to 5 children.  My youngest son will graduate on Dec. 17 from boot camp and I just can't wait to hug him and hold him.  I also have 2 daughters who are in college about 45 minutes from home, an older son who just graduated from college and has come back home to live for a few months (but is moving out in March, 2011). And, last but not least, the oldest of my children is my daughter, who is married and gave me two of the most beautiful grandchild ever, but lives 2000 miles away.  My husband also works 2000 miles away, while I hold down the fort trying to sell our house in the Southwest.  I spend a lot of time by myself.  I look forward to sharing stories with you all and getting to know you.

Welcome to navymamax3. I'm going to have to sort through my emails and see if that is everyone. I hope you find a way to help each other through the holidays and deployments here.

Wow, navymamax3, your post reflects my feelings today exactly. I've been trying to force my self to put up Christmas decorations and bake cookies but it just isn't the same anymore. My oldest is in OCS and will be home on Christmas Day and my youngest is in college and will be home for the break - so I really don't have anything to complain about. However, it just isn't the same and never will be again. You're right that is just sucks.....we can't do anything about it, we just have to make the best of it and count our blessings.

It was a wild ride. Five kids that is.. my three older sons joined the service, two in the Navy and one in the Army. Now.. the baby.. joined the Navy, set to graduate basic 12/22/10. My heart was ripped out when he left. We are a close family and recently my two oldest sons told me I was the best mama and they were happy to call me friend basically. I feel the same way. Sometimes I sits... and sometimes I sits and cry. My husband works away from home so I am alone a lot. I try to keep busy with my work, and thinking of my work.. but the bottom line is.. I miss being a mama to my kids. I have 8 grandchildren and no one lives near me. My oldest, a daughter, lives with her family two hours away. Victory, I get to see her this weekend. We will shop until we drop and that will be great girl fun. Just wanted to give my story. Someday my hope is that my children will come "home" and we will all be a close family again.. close in proximity that is, because no matter how far apart we are.. we are always close in heart. It still hurts and it still sucks to be truly a grown up with no children at home. argh.. have a great day everyone! ;-)

Ahh, Kaye, thanks and welcome. I actually took it over a few months ago, as the Mom who had started it no longer had a loved one in the service. I just could not let it go unattended. And, you ever wonder why the Hoosier who lives in Illinois is also taking care of the Missouri page???? Yep, same reason.
