A young man wrote his mom and told her about a boy that gets no mail AT ALL in bootcamp. On top of that, the guys make fun of him.

Thought you guys might want to know...

DMax's Mom-
same problem here--have a 77page book to read and pass on--I haven't finished it in almost 3 weeks--and did I mention it's on 77 pages long?!
I, too am a stress eater, plus practicing new recipes for my shows. I try to keep my fruits and yogurts stocked up. Doesn't help that at school we serve pretty high calorie stuff for the kids, too.
No fun cooking for 2, but then I have to thank God I still have my hubby--so 2 is a good number.
Christmas should be good, and we will see our Sailor at Thanksgiving, too. That's my focus.

Yesterday was one of those days I really missed our son. Fortunately, I caught him on IM last night, and he was chatty. Our "conversations" are so much more fun now that he has become a working adult. lol.
Counting the days until Thanksgiving when we get to see him at A school.

I was just on line with one of our sailor's former class mates. It was so strange not to be cleaning up the chili dinner dishes from all his friends.
He is happy, too, at Goose Creek. This week I have been fortunate to see many of his former teachers--going back to Kindergarten. What fun memories. My favorite was picking him up after school, when he had so much to talk about.
Miss being able to call him at any time due to the demands of the classes. However, I treasure these times, too, knowing one day he will be out of communication for months at a time.

We are here for you. God made us Navy Moms for a reason. (Some days we don't know why, but we make it through another 24 hours.)
Bc was tough for me, and A school is easier. Today I just called and asked if he were having a good day and to call Dad while I am out of town. I treasure these moments and am counting days until Christmas when we will be together.
Love N4M!!!

My youngest left for boot camp last February. I have cleaned the house from top to bottom; the yards look beautiful; the closets are even cleaned out. Something was still missing.
So I took a job as office manager for one of my son's best friends. He's in the entertainment business. So I'm back in the middle of the noise, lots of kids coming and going and I really like it. Plus most of the kids I know and they all stop in to see how Matt is doing.
But most of all I really like coming home to my quiet, tidy home...

Janelle--- I can understand your feelings. We felt bad because we didn't feel bad the first two weeks. Lost, yes, but glad our sailor had found a purpose in life.
Now that he is at A school, we are closer than we have been in years. It's an exciting progress of maturity!
You are a loving Mom or you would not be here on this site seeking answers. We're hear for you!

Pat--thanks for sharing. Shane is lucky to have such a brother (he ain't heavy, he's my brother comes to mind.) Please know we all share the loss we feel when our sailors are no longer "ours" to own. Keep with us so we can all be strong when needed.

They don't get free postage--but you can pick up free boxes and labels from the PO for flat rate shipping. I've got two different sizes (not by much) and so long as the USA, no declaration is necessary--but once overseas, then you fill out that extra form.
Don't package snacks with stuff that doesn't smell like food.
