All.....Well I have been a member of this group all of 24 hours and now I need to assk for some assistance. Our son is returning from Afghanistan in a few days.

As all things Navy our best laid plans have gone out the window and now have a new time line of classes and report date to his new ship.

Has anyone had to ship a vehicle cross country? I would appreciate any information and or suggestions you may have!

I would suggest we posted it here on this site, because this information may be helpfully to others in the future.

Mom in waiting,
Jody

All....Thanks for the warm welcome. I have found the Officer link, but they don't have the same expression as you all.

As of right now our son will stay and make the Navy a career, so longs as his wife can stand it. We have told him that if she can do the time, then go after your career. But if she says she can't do it any more, then its time to get out. His family is more important than a career. They also have 2 little girls, age 4 and 18 months. He is also finishing up on his third deployment to the middle east in 5 years.

He is being assigned to a new ship out of San Diego next month, so he will be busy once he gets home, selling his house, moving the family cross country and they finding a new house.

Looking forward to hearing more about all of you.

All....I just found this group and have been reading over the prior postings. I think I have found my group. I like how you all think!

I have been a long time Navy mom. Our son has been out of the house 12 years, between the academy and on the line. He is currently on his last days of his IA in Afghanistan and will be heading to his home in VA. I can't wait to just talk to him without worrying about what I am saying.

I also have a adult daughter that lives in the same town as we do. We see her a couple of times a week. She is single and a insurance agent. If I may brag for a minute, she was just choosen as the Rookie Agent of the year for her company. She is all jazz about it because she gets a trip to Chicago to the headquarters and gets to meet their spoke person that does the allstate commericals.

Well thanks for letting me introduce myself a little. Looking forward to hear more from all of you.

Hi all~
I'm a single mom whose youngest child is headed off to college this summer. His college is way out of state and my Sailor daughter lives way out of state. So I guess very soon I will officially be an emptynester. On the one hand I'm looking forward to it and on the other I'm abit concerned (sounds better than saying I'm scared!) How are some of you coping with it?

Debbie ~ I can so relate to your situation. How do you cope? You're blessed to have your daughter, SIL & grandbabies in the same city as you!

Did ~ I hope you feel better soon. Maybe you can find a local support group or form one in your church maybe.

I always lose the bar across the top and have to wait awhile before it shows again to sign off of it.
