Karenlee - thank you for all your information regarding EOD. Prayers . . . . I think I'll be doing a LOT of praying over the next 6 years. Trusting God to watch over these brave Sailors. I'm so proud of my son and all those who have decided to go into all the special forces. It takes a special kind of person to want to do the jobs they have set before them. :)
Karenlee,
Thank you for sharing your experience. It has put my mind at ease. I have not cried once today. Victory! Similar to CarolinaMom, I am planning my son's "Anchors Aweigh" party (thanks for the idea!) I'm still trying to decide on the menu and need to order a cake.
I am very proud of my son, even though I haven't actually said it to him. I need to tell him (without tears). I have googled Navy EOD several time. In fact, last weekend my son found a program on Netflix called Surviving the Cut. It goes into great detail about their training. Very interesting.
By the way, I'm in Illinois. Not too far from GL.
The men in our son's group all were given a choice of where they wanted to be stationed. The all got their first choice request! They are finishing their training and are all excited about going to their station. Once they are at their station, they will train with the other men in their unit and then be deployed. We don't know where yet.
Bon-Codysmom, my son is leaving on Feb 3 also. I'm scared to death as well. I try not to think about it but it wakes me up at night. If he had just not chosen EOD, I would be ok. All I can do is pray, pray, pray. And know that they will be in training for over a year. That is what is keeping me sane. I will pray for your son as well.
any words of encouragement out there? my son leaves feb 3rd and i am getting more and more nervous. this EOD thing scares me to death...
