I just realized that MA in your address doesn't mean Massachusetts! I'm in Illinois also, but the far western suburbs of the quad-cities! If your son is an MA and mine is a GM, they will have lots to talk about. Is he a video gamer, too?
Just talked to my son, Lynda (MA-LIttle Creek, Va). I'll friend you so I can give you personal info, but he asked where your son is flying from. He said his sponsor this time was worthless, but it was ok because he knew where he was going since he's been stationed at Norfolk before. He said it IS a big deal for someone who's never been there. SO, the good news is that he wants me to give you his number, have your son call him and talk to him. He offered to pick him up at the airport, help him check in, and let him stay for a night or two with him and his fiancee (on the couch, but I've slept on it--it's comfortable!) until he gets squared away with quarters. I'm curious, what's your son's rate? How's that for some help? Go book that flight!
Lynda, I forwarded your message to my son who is at Little Creek and lives very close to the airport. He's been in the Navy for 9 years, so maybe he knows what to do. I'll let you know if I find out anything. There are good and bad sponsors--we've run into both kinds.
My sailor was given a name of a fellow sailor that is suppose to be his sponsor when he arrives at the airport in Norfolk. This sailor hasn't called yet to confirm things. I need to book my sailors flight to Norfolk soon. He has to report by the Friday after Thanksgiving. How much time should I give this sponsor before I book this flight? Unfortuately, the flight is on Thanksgiving. I don't want the flight to be sold out and then pay double for another airlines. Any suggestions?
Love the picture Lynda.
Hi Lynda, our son did his A school training in Great Lakes and then his C school training at Little Creek. I've been told that when they go to Little Creek for training that they are stationed there too. Our son really likes it there. The only thing about that we don't like is that he is so far away. We live in Oregon. Ask anything else you want. I'm happy to tell you what I can.
Proudkmom: Thanks for all the information. We'll be spending our Thanksgiving with him at the airport. It might be a McDonalds Turkey day. But, as long as we're together.
He finishes A school. Will he have more schooling in Little Creek?
Hi Lynda, my son is stationed at Little Creek. He arrived from Great Lakes in April. When our son got there, his sponsor helped him get settled and then he didn't have very much to do those first couple days. He had some paperwork to do and he got signed up to eat in the galley. Then he began C school training. I'm thinking your son probably won't have much going on when he arrives because of Thanksgiving. It's too bad he can't come home for Thanksgiving. Our son is also stuck there for the holiday. We will miss our kids won't we,,,
Hi, I'm new to the group. My son is going to arrive at Little Creek on Thanksgiving Day. I know he has a sponsor, but what happens those first few days? He is a MA. Thanks for any information you can give me.
