Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son will be AECF A School in GL too. His PIR is 5/12.

I think it goes like this-they can't have their stuff right after PIR because they have to go back to the boot camp barracks to check out and move to A School across the street. I think they can then have their stuff after they move to A School when they are no longer going to be in the boot camp area.

@Bandmom my sin had PIR April 7 and I after PIR de go back to get their things and move are transfered to A School you'll get to see him in a couple of hours he'll be in Liberty after that and you can give him his things when you check him back from Liberty, Liberty expires at 10 pm Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Hello, my son has a PIR date of June 2. He will be attending AECF at Great Lakes. I am planning on taking his laptop and cell phone to give him after PIR. I am a little confused as "the letter" says he cannot have his cell phone while on Liberty. Since he is staying at Great Lakes, and is in right after PIR, Is he allowed to have those items before we leave on Saturday?

Got it. Thank you. I'm planning our trip to his PIR with the thought that his A school is there and we get some weekend time with him. Didn't want to have it all wrong. I think I'm just borrowing worries, haha.

The contract is confusing, as it is four years, then he sign a two year extension. I was an ET, and it confused me!

I have another question- My son went in to the DEPS as AECF with the plan to take a math class at the comm. college and switch to nuke. He took the math class, but decided to stay with the AECF. I was under the impression that this field also required the 6 year active duty commitment, like nuke, due to length of schooling. I see on his paperwork that came back with his box that he's signed for 4 active. Is there a chance that they undesignated him?
