So glad that you have heard from him and he sounds better! Get used to those early calls girl, depending on where his ship is he probably is 12 -15 hour time difference from you. Steve used to be great at waking me up at 3 am but when you are deployed - you use that phone whenever you get a chance! Stick to his ship email address, if he hasn't responded - it might just be a busy day or two for him and stop by the fleet sailor group and ask those moms for suggestions on what to send so you can be working on a care package while you wait for his address.

Mary had posted a CS forum (mess hall!) on a discussion, but since shari's father was an FC, thought I'd put it here. My husband is director of the east texas Chef's Association, and Shari Carlson has dessert dreams in Dallas. she has gone aboard two carriers to mentor culinary specialists.

Hi Carol-

Congratulations!

My dad was in the navy during WWII - he was also a Fire Controlman.
When I was little I thought that meant he put out fires on board ship!!
Eventually he explained that he helped "aim" the big guns and
torpedos at targets. Totally different from now of course.

I boarded the USS Theodore Roosevelt (Carrier) in September 2003
from Norfolk and cruised down the east coast to Florida but was evavuated by
COD because of an incoming huricane.

In September 2004, I and 3 other chefs from Dallas were flown from
San Diego to the USS Abraham Lincoln (Carrier) while at sea and cruised north
up the Pacific to Seattle.

In May of 2006 I took the USS San Antonio from Norfolk to New York for
Fleet Week. What an experience that was - cruising up the harbor!

I wrote an article after my first trip for the Lone Star Chef.
If you contact the state office they probably have it on file.

Shari

I'LL TRY TO GET THAT ARTICLE.

Helen, when our son went from ATT to A school - it was the next day but it sounds like they are racking and stacking sailors in great Lakes right now so please let us know if he experiences a hold.

I want to see the sun shine! I made Patricks first couple of costumes. He was a shiny Navy Blue Prince with Large clear stones in his hat, and medium blue sparkles with that Navy Blue background. Picture on my page.

They have been keeping the females on separate floors - I don't think that has changed but with so much movement lately...not sure.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Well Mary, its about time. Time for Patrick to leave. Oh, well. thats a shame, they didn't figure it out B-4.
