Got to speak to our restless son for a loooooooong time this evening. Now his target grad date is Nov. 26th but that can change each day based on his daily progress in ATT.

Question...does anyone have the solid dates for Christmas leave for our school. I'm not sure I understood all of this but he said ITT came in to discuss travel plans for the holidays (he was not there when this happened) and he THINKS next week they are going to do their leave paperwork together. I'm not sure if this is being done by class or by ship. He wants us to go ahead and shop for an airline ticket as he is hearing even if he finishes school this month - they have to return after the holidays for their orders to C school.

He also said he will have to bring everything home with him as they will be using his ship for those they do not take leave. They are going to consolidate them onto a single ship or two. Then he said - they may keep one room, that they can collectively leave their stuff in.

And...can I find a gym for him to join for the two weeks he is home on leave?! He THINKS the YMCA provides free visits for the military (?)

So Kellie...if Mickie doesn't take leave at Christmas...he might be able to move back to the Cole afterall!!! :-)

What a cutie Jackie. Your wait to meet the princess reminds me of the time our daughter was five and we stood in line for an hour plus as she just HAD to ride the Dumbo ride, we were within feet of getting our turn and ....Mickey Mouse walked by the ride, she took off running after Mickey and of course mom had to run after her...I don't think she has ever been on that Dumbo ride!!!

Welcome Rehne! Have you joined the Michigan Moms group? We have a large group growing there as well - it's my home state.

We will be anxious to hear what James thinks of his first deployment.

Kellie, typically they do move twice while in GL for school and USUALLY when they are assigned a ship after SCC, they stay for the duration of schooling but it sounds like there are so many sailors waiting for orders or waiting for school to start that they maybe shifting things around a bit. I think the Cole is the best ship too (wink, wink) well honestly - they did win a bbq two months in a row for no ARIs!!! Nick will give Mickie his room on the Cole for a set of C school orders!
