One of the PIR moms wrote that the main exchange was closed down on Saturday due to power outages but they went over to Gurnee as well.

Being glued to the weather channel for too many hours this weekend, I see that north Chicago area got 7" of rain yesterday and due three more inches today. I'm sure GL is prepared for all weather conditions but it sounds like it has been a mighty wet weekend there as well.

Did not know Millye is in Texas (?)

Always such good information on this site - it is so nice to have "seasoned" moms to shed some light.

Karla, I will also tell you with these programs being self-paced, each time they start a new module it will tell the Sailor an estimated time of completion. It is usually very generous with the time. I know last week our son said he was working on one module and it gave a 12 day window for completion. He was done and taking the test on day six so I think there is alot of time built into the modules. If he keeps studying, he will be showing his motivation and he will get thru this.

Julie, always good to see you - glad you got to talk to Kyle on his birthday. Sorry about the family challenges, I'm sure your mother is glad that you are there to help.

Barbara, I think LynnDear has stated it well. And like other moms here, the fear of being "unclassified" and painting boats for six years, is quite motivating for many of our sailors and I believe the Navy does a pretty good job of scaring them with that.

Is he actually in A school or ATT right now?

He may just be feeling the pressure and hearing that the drop out rate is high. Many of our sailors have hit some difficult spots in the program but everyone in this group IS getting thru it Barbara. Do share with him what LynnDear has said and encourge him to take the voluntary night sessions (never mind the Navy will do that!!) He just needs a shot of confidence and perhaps reminding him that his scores got him into the program and we are confident that he will complete the program may be of some help.

LynnDear has reported in, that they are okay. I don't know how old that information is and the storms are not over with yet. I got an email late from CCR full of her usual humor! But at that point the hurricane had not reached the coast. I have sent her our phone # and asked her to let us know if she is okay if possible but I suspect phone lines are an issue as well.
