Good point Nancy, he is due to finish up in early-mid Nov. and I just wonder with the holidays coming up if C school will even start before January and then with the speculation that orders may not even be available - ick such a guess game.

I'd much rather have him be in place when the orders do come in vs...washing someone's car!! lol

Millye, what a wonderful holiday you will be having at your house!
Graduation, homecomings - just having your loved ones at home again.

Nancy, I wonder what would be worse sitting around GL on hold for orders or sitting around a recruiter's office? I had never heard of RAP before this group so the learning continues! I am going to ask our son if it is something he might consider, we have a big recruiters office here. I am just thinking he could be waiting on orders for awhile.

The Marines had our phone # for about a year. Don't even remember how they connected with Nick but persistent recruiter! We finally had to get forceful and tell them not to call back, if he makes the decision to join the military - it would not be the Marines. Broke his grandpa's heart - the ole' Marine that he is.

I thought of Wade instantly - but no it was only an exercise. Sounds like it was pretty large scale at that so I expect that a few of our sailors had a chance to participate. Also sounded like he enjoyed it...or at least messing with his mother about it!

Hi ladies, apparently my son wanted to give me a heart attack today. He called to tell me ...he had a broken shoulder bone and had been at the hospital! Don't need to tell any of you all of the various thoughts that ran thru my mind! After asking him 3 times how, where, why?!!! (Wondering if he was playing football in the middle of the day!)

He finally explained that they are doing a mass casualty drill today and a number of ships are involved and from his ship they pulled 80 sailors to participate. Everyone had an assignment card and Nick's was a broken shoulder bone, so it got wrapped my a corpsman and he was put in an ambulance (real) to go to the (real) hospital for a couple of hours so they could also use their skills. He was also covered in paint - apparently a bomb or two exploded in the process.

It sounded like it was a pretty cool exercise on a very important day. So just in case any of your sons or daughters call with broken bones, head tramas, etc - they will probably be grinning on the other end of that phone line!

Thats it! Apprentice technical training. Thats it.
Thanks K and Nancy - and BTW, you put it in terms I could understand. Plus, I am going to copy and paste it to send to him, about the Sea Sparrow, etc.

GREAT news. Havn't had a bad day in almost 1 month, but today I did. I tried to clean and pack his room some more. he calls just now hollerin/screamin/yellin, - he made an 83 on his SPAA (his hardest test) and tells me all his plans in 3 wks. About whether he would be on hold in GL or wherever he might be on hold. I'm so excited. He said something about not so many orders given in the winter? Does that sound right? That he might be on hold for a little bit.

Nancy, wrong words. didn't mean more current, meant to say does anyone have any links to "other systems". I thought this was talking only about aegis. Is that incorrect? It says AGS's and I assumed it was Aegis. Sorry.

WEll, all this time I though ATT was advanced technical training and my Navy brother told me it was apprentice technical correspondence course.
So he asked me electronics tech or radar? I don't know.
then he asked if his rating was aviation or seaman. I thought it was FC, but then I remember Patrick saying he was a seaman recruit - which I only thought he was not a recruit anymore since PIR. Can he be both a seaman and an FC. I know these sound like silly questions since I have been around here a while & should know the answer, but...

Peg, I sure know about that test, and looks like everyone else is familiar with its difficulty. I am thinking Patrick took it over and finally passed it. I think.

Seems he also went to pick someone up from the airport and got his GPS stolen out of his car when they went in to eat somewhere. Don't really know the details. So hard to get anything out of him....

Sorry to hear of your health problems. oh boy, Nick is taking that radar test today Peg. He maybe in night classes with your son! I know he went to school on Saturday to study. I don't think we will hear from him today as he has duty. If he is doing the night sessions already, he may need to ask for some help. He's come so far, he can't have much longer (?)

Julie, Julie, Julie - so sorry to hear of the problems.
