I hear ya Tina, my favorite calls from my son is on the weekends when he is doing his laundry. I would LOVE a picture of him ironing!

Happy to report that those skills can stay with them, my husband has been out of the Navy for 17 years and he still does all of his own ironing. Love the Navy!!!

I should probably ask a real twidgett sometime Jackie because I used to pride myself on spelling but for some reason ...I thought it was two tt s. I will confirm that one day soon.

Have a good night all!

Tina and Helen, when they first start classes out of boot. They go thru indoc for about a week and then move over to SCC (basic seamanship classes) usually when they complete SCC,(about two weeks long) they will move to ATT (Advanced technical training) and to their ship for the balance of their A school. It's generally about 3-4 weeks from the time they check in.

Our son has been on the Cole since A school began and they have won bbqs two months in a row for no ARI (achohol related incidents) personally I think it's because no female sailors are on the Cole. They moved the females out earlier this summer and the Cole is strictly male now - so it's probably the most boring ship but they are staying out of trouble!

Other ships are coed but I believe they try to keep the sexes separated by floor.

Your sons may know each other from boot camp and that will make settling into their settings easier. Typically they move into one ship and then move to another ship before starting the ATT program.

Jackie, I have been stopping by the Twidgett room too. Twidgett is spelled with double TTs - right? One of the moms asked me and I have always spelled it with two and see that you do as well.

Welcome Colleen, glad you joined us. I think we can all relate to what you experienced at your son's PIR, the nice thing is the memory seems to stay with you...just like it was yesterday!

Will Sean be an ET or FC? We have a great mix of both in this group so don't hestiate to ask questions.

Alright Jackie! That's quite a logo - think I'm going to have Nancy to help with the FC logo so all of our Sailors can have their identities!!
