Kellie, not sure when you were hoping to go to GL but perhaps he might be taking leave to come home during the holidays such as Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Karla - what a nice visit for your son. I know he must of enjoyed spending time with his son and you.

Millye, what a great job Claire has done! Our congratulations to her!!!

Barbara, for Stephen's birthday, you really can ship anything but perhaps Jackie can tell you better about the space they have to store stuff. You may want to consider including a pair of jeans and a couple of shorts as he will move into Phase II within a few weeks and will be able to wear civilian clothes on the weekends. Our son did not want a lot of his clothes as he was concerned about having to ship/pack them up when A school ends.

I don't know if it is just the AE/CF group or not but they have only have Phase I and II at GL now. I know this is not the case at other bases and I'm not sure about other rates at GL. But I understand they have done away with Phase III.

So Kellie, he can stay out over night in Phase II but as Barbara is saying...there are times that they lose their liberty with no fault of their own. Our son has been in school since April and it only lost his liberty when the base did the major lockdown but things can happen.

P.S. --- We are down to 5 tests left in A school!
The current module that our son is working on is projected to take 8 days however he said usually you can finish it in 4 or 5 days. He expects he will be testing on it next week as there is NO school on Friday due to the holiday.

Smart thinking Nancy, I should have planned ahead. I had to do a double check to see if it was the same site. I did read they are hoping to have the guides loaded there soon. Hoping more FCs get on board with it.

Nancy, I thought for study guides that would be a good resource for Stephen on MyNavyOnLine. Have you been to www.firecontrolman.com recently? I just checked it out and it's a totally new site but seems to be in the very early stages, the study guides are not on there at this time and only a few sailors are posting so hopefully it will catch on soon.

Some of you may know this, some of you will not but our ETs and FCs (basically any sailor working with electronics) is referred to as a Twidgett. One of the Twidgett moms recently started a new group that is called...Twidgetts. You may want to check it out.

Barbara, I think your son would want to use the MyNavyOnline for this stage of school. I'm familiar with the www.firecontrolman.com and have tried to email that sailor but don't know if his address has changed or if he cannot receive email but MyNavyOnline, should provide Stephen with the most current study materials.

Millye, they usually do move them right to A school. With the self-paced programs they do not have to wait for a class to start - just have a computer open. I know Claire must be thrilled!

Kellie, clearly your folks did alot of things right with you!!! With your fiance still in bc, the orders he is referring to are for A school and he will not see them until a day or so before his PIR. But if he has been told that he will be ET, the orders are pretty cut and dry. He will do his PIR and move across the street the same day.

His C school orders will not be available until he is about ready to graduate from A school and there could many different C schools that he could head to so you cannot even begin to make plans but I think it is very smart of you to continue with school there and let him work on his school (whereever that maybe) and once he gets his permanent duty station orders, you can make those plans.

Marsher, I am proud for you, but sad for Patrick. He says your son was one of his friends. Patrick has moved rooms to the third floor, I think Claire is on the first floor, right Millye? He said his 2nd floor room got mold in it from a 3rd floor room, so they moved everyone up.
