Welcome Charlotte! We are delighted to have you join us. There is a job description posted above and alot of great ET moms to help you along. Our son was contracted at MEPs for AE/CF but was also told he could receive one of 4 jobs; ET, FC, CTN, STG. They all fall under AE/CF and are all great ratings. He was hoping for FC as his dad was an FC for 10 years - he did get assigned to the FC program when all was said and done.

Bring your ET questions on - always a mom here ready to help!

Goodness, take a day off and look how busy this site is! Looks like you ladies have done an excellent job answering all of the questions. We are such "seasoned" moms now - LOL.

Jackie...still no rain here but dramatic drop in temperture, I actually wore a light jacket this morning. Unheard of for August!

When I spoke to my son, he said they have not lost their liberty the last 3 week-ends, so I guess they are only punishing the individual ships? He bought a car, but needs a ride to go get it. Got tax title and license plates come Aug 28th. Then he said he sold his guitar hero. I couldn't believe it. We had so much fun together before he left for BC with it. Guess I should sell his alto sax too.

Barbara, my sons on the Mustin, I'll be able to go home and read back the last 20 pages later, but my son goes to class all day, eats and goes back at night too. He always goes to the mandatory/voluntary extra classes or whatever. Unfortunately, its all computer driven and no teachers, so my son has been tutoring several who were flunking, so he got behind and after being the top of the class, he has now flunked a couple tests while helping others pass. Ain't that the way it goes...

Marsher, I have to send cookies right away, its a matter of morale now after what happened to him. Is Mustin bldg 385 and then its 320 Dewey Ave, right and whats the zip, the same? Of course I know the room. He's also not happy because his roommate just left. The one from Texas he like so much and they had a great time together.

Kellie, being a Navy wife can be a great thing. I truly enjoyed my years but deployments do come with the job. If you go to school, work, stay busy, getting involved it all helps.

I would like to believe it is easier today between emails, cell phones and just better communications all the way around. Have you joined the wives/girlfriends group on this site, they maybe able to share more current information that would be of interest to you and your finance.

Barbara. I know we have some moms here with sons on the Mustin but I'm not one of them. It sounds like your son is making some smart choices picking up the extra study sessions.

Millye, I know you are happy and proud of Claire (and rightfully so!!) our son also thought those last couple of mods were harder too but she will get thru them and usually they move to A school the very next day - like Jackie's son, our son really likes A much better than ATT as well.

Kellie, there is no easy answer to your question. Most sailors only go to one C school before seeing there first ships but there are exceptions to that.

The length of the sea school will vary depending on which system your fiance gets orders for. They can be 3 - 8 months long and location of that school will also be determined by the system.

How often out on a ship...well, the FC rate is a sea going rate for starters. There are not alot of shore duty billets for this rate.

He will live on the ship unless his rank and/or marriage allows him to obtain housing. While living with my sailor husband in Japan, depending on where the ship was being deployed to - it could be gone 3 - 6 months at a time. After a deployment they might be in port for a month before heading back out. When it was in port, it was much like a 9 to 5 job except they had duty rotation every 4th day and had to sleep on the ship.

His divisionmates were awesome about trading duty with him, they usually would take his duty days while they were homeported and he would work their duty days while they were in scenic ports!

Do you know when your fiance will be your...husband?!!! :-D
