Karla, safe travels to GL and enjoy your time with your sailor! I think with the ATT program for the FCs, they were testing it to see if splitting the program up, helped the learning retention at C school. Perhaps that want to see how that works out before they make a permanent change. I do believe our son was in the first class to do the split (we were really questioning it at the time) and he only has SIX more tests in A school and then back for the balance of ATT. So maybe they are waiting for him (lol) to see what he has retained!

As far as A school being harder than ATT, our son is enjoying it much more. More hands on, more instructor base and for many folks, learning hands on or with an instructor is better than computer based programs.

Our Jennifer is in her second C school cause she is one SMART FC! Based on her grades, evals, attitude, etc. she had an opportunity to learn another system. This does happen, often the Navy will offer it as a perk for reenlistment but she was able to go from one C to another C before reporting to her ship.

Julie gal, will you get to see Kyle before he heads off to Sasebo? I sent Nick and email with Jennifer's recommendation and will let him know Kyle is expressing the same. I think Nick was in the pilot class for splitting ATT up but he was told then, too many sailors were not retaining the ATT training when they did it all on the front end so it created challenges at C school so although he'd love to wrap up A school and move on down the road, it sounds like he is right where he needs to be.

Our FC Jennifer is in her 2nd "C" school.

please share some of that rain Jackie! Our news reporters keep changing the day that we are supposed to be feeling the effects of Fay but our temperture has dropped today and the wind is picking up so I'm hopeful. If nothing else, it is a very pleasant day for August in GA!

Marsher, did you son do a "dream" list? What was his top choice?
Comment by Mary, Proud Mom of Nick on August 21, 2008 at 12:43am
We could be behind you Marsher, hoping so anyways!

Remember NavyforMoms just started in Jan and our group formed in April so most of our early members were either DEP or boot camp moms - can you imagine six months from now? We will have fleet sailors, C school sailors, exhausted moms...lol

Barbara, the Staybridge sounds very similiar to the Homewood Suites that we stayed at for PIR, it was also in Lincolnshire. Indoor pool, hot meals, separate living room, kitchen, nice grounds, etc. The Navy rate there was $84 per night.

Helen, I will be happy to shoot you an email to give you some guidelines but you might want to read thru the FC job description above to give you an overall view of Matt's job.

So excited ladies! Our son called tonight, yep ...that's like three nights in a row! He was happy, he ONLY has 7 more tests until he is done with A school!!! Yippee! Of course, he explained to me that each test will take 4 -5 days to complete AND then he has to go BACK to ATT since the FCs are spliting the ATT program in half (half before A school and half after A school) so I'm dancing on the kitchen table thinking he will be home before I know it and the reality is ...he still has another three months or so to go. But it is fun for him to be able to countdown those tests!

Jennifer's recommendation for ATT is right on target and it is one of the reasons why they have split the ATT program up for the FCs.

Tina, enjoy those calls now :-D He will get busy and settled in and will be making new friends and having liberty and the calls will slow down ...we are usually happy to hear from our son a couple of times a week now that he is into A school.

We also got the full weekend of liberty during PIR, so many moms told us it would not happen but until they check in at their new home - you just don't know.

Hate it that another lock down is brewing -
