They are in the same county but north of us, maybe next time you are in town we can make some plans.

LynnDear - we have so been thinking of you and Wade. How does he get trash detail when he has sprained ankles, much less a cast on?!!! Although I love that he has a "Navy" cast, I hate that it is getting in his way of class. Hoping the ortho doctor has a good plan for him tomorrow. How frusterating this must be for him.

Jackie, if your time allows you should stop by the Opryland Hotel and just have a drink in the lobby. I stayed there a number of years ago and it is just beautiful.

I wish we were in town this weekend - I'm heading up to see my dad in Michigan. We live just north of Atlanta and I would love to meet you. What part of Atlanta are your friends in? We are in Marietta. Old navy friends are the ...best!

I have not heard anything from LynnDear - trying not to worry too much but she is so good about staying in touch. Do not have any updates on Wade as of yet.

Jackie - what a big trip you have planned. Grand Ole' Opry is and area is just fun! And then you get to see John for your bonus.

Geez...turn my back for a few hours and the room keeps multiplying!

Welcome Robin and Barbara! We have a couple of Barbaras on board now.

You are going for 4th of July too? This is NOT FAIR. Actually, my nephew has come home from Afghanistan for the 3rd time and he'll be coming from SC to TX on July 1 - 4. I cannot wait to see him as I babysat him while he was a toddler and I love him so much. He was an officer in ROTC, graduated HS, joined the Army, got married and had a baby. WOW. I am excited to see him and his baby. Are you flying or driving? Jackie, will you be staying with your brother?

Yes, its getting crowded. Welcome Barbara, you lucky dog, you get to see your son July 4th week-end, and Jackie, and someone else, who was it? I like TX, but sometimes I wish I lived in Great Lakes, Waukegan, or even Gurnee. It would be nice to get a little apt. up there. Boy, would that make him mad! He's so glad to be away from home and on his own. What happened to my little boy?

It's getting crowded in this room!!! Isn't that wonderful? I think it was just me and Lynn Dear for the longest time...explaining to other rates what AE/CF meant!!! lol

Welcome Barbara! Actually you may find it takes a tad longer to get to actual A school!! Some of our sailors PIR-ed back in March and they still have started A school! Not to be concerned, there are just a number of classes that lead to it. They start with about 5 days in indoc, usually the Monday after PIR. Then they may go on hold for a few days before SCC (basic seamanship) I think this lasts about two weeks and when that is completed, they go to ATT (Advanced Technical Training) and this can go on from 2.5 weeks to 10 weeks depending on their rate, etc. All of this happens before they go to...A school!

So it's a long road there but we are happy that you joined us. Congrats on your upcoming graduation, do you know if your son will be an ET or an FC?

My husband is having a hard time believing they cannot have cars at A school (he had his afterall!!) but he also can't believe the changes in the tatoo policy from his old Navy days either! See...something do change! lol
