Hello all. I got a call from my daughter also. She sounded great. She has been in FIT/RCU for over a month, and things were not great when she first got there. It took time to get her spirits up. She is so ready to get out of there. I want to encourage the parents with kids in FIT/RCU (things will get better). I was writing her daily at one point to send her words of encouragement. I literally felt drained myself, because I could do nothing myself to get her through this. But she is sounding so much better. She fell while running 800 meter medical run and refused to get off the track. Next time she ran she passed her 800 meter run. I have never seen her so focused and determined to get through this. So I'm happy she has learned to adjust to this challenge. Our sailors will be better persons when they get through this, and we will be the proudest parents.

hello. my daugher called yesterday. I dont know if everyone in the fit group goes together but she said they had to walk a mile to get to phone, so maybe he is still off of his feet. She is pretty down in the dumps.

No phone call yet, bummer, I was hoping. Guess I'll just hope for a letter to come later this week. I wish I knew whether he was back up on the foot or not.

Got a letter today. He sounds really depressed, but wants to get done. When first in FIT run was 15min, now 13min. Has a bruise on the bottom of his foot, doc said maybe torn ligament. Off foot for 6 days and back to doc. Hope it's not torn, that looks like lengthy recovery. Glad I finally have an address to send him mail.

Glad you got calls yesterday. Hope to hear that he's passed the run soon, haven't heard anything yet though.

I got a call from my daughter yesterday also (Praise God). It was only the second call since she was sent to the unit on medical hold. She has been there since the first of October, and her first call was a few minutes long. I treasure every second and minute we have to talk. She is doing better, and remains optimistic. She is looking forward to the holidays, and hopes to come home for Christmas. I pray everyone got to speak with their son or daughter. My week if off to a great start. Suesmom (congrats) on the call. I'm sure you feel a lot better since you got to speak to your daughter. My daughter says the therapy and RDC's have really been helpful to getting them ready to take the final run. My daughter is still on medical hold, but should phase up soon. Poor thing also had strep throat and an ear infection last week, but sounds great.

My daughter called me yesterday and said they are really working with the recruits to get them into shape to pass the tests and that most of the people are really nice. It was good to finally hear from her and hear that she was Ok.

Does anyone know if the recruits in fit are allowed to phone or write? We talked to my son when he first let us know he would be heading to fit on October 27th. He mentioned that he would write us his new address, but haven't heard anything yet? When he was in his regular division we got a letter once a week?

TammySue- I am glad your daughter is doing well. I am also glad that you got to see her before she left for A school. We live in Iowa and I am hoping that I will get enough notice from her that I will be able to go see her at the airport even if it is just to give her her phone and a kiss. She is going to San Diego for her A school which is very far away.

Thank you all for your support and help it does make it a lot easier knowing that others have survived this both as recruits and as parents.
