Events

**UPDATE - 2020**

Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

suesmom, my son was suppose to graduate 11/5, but called last wed with the scripted call that he hasn't passed his run and was heading to FIT. Other than that haven't heard from him by call or letter. He mentioned he would send one Thursday with his address, so hoping one comes tomorrow.

Hello. My daughter was supposed to graduate on the 29th of oct. She did not pass her final run so I guess she got transferred to the fit division at least that is what the public affairs man told me this morning. I have not heard from her and am very worried about her mental status as I know this is going to be extremely hard on her. Does anyone know if they let the recruits call home or write? It would make my life easier just to talk to her and know she is Ok. Thank you all.

Vickie, I figured he couldn't bypass the run, he will get it eventually. When I talked to him yesterday he said he would write today and get us the new address. If I send them now til I get the new address will they forward the mail to him?

My daughter was scheduled to have PIR 10/01/10, and she still has not passed the final run. She has some other issues which caused her to have problems breathing, and this has not been resolved. They kept letting her run to pass the run and now she has stress fractures of the shin and a bad knee. She'll in therapy for at least 2-3 weeks. We did not receive a letter or call for nearly 3 wks, and I called the Public Affairs office to find out what was going on. I got no information from Public affairs. We finally start getting letters from her, and she is getting more depressed as the days go by. She is seeing everyone else progress and asks herself "what did I do to deserve this". They were ready to send her home and she cried and convinced them she wanted to stay. I know she's strong, but she feels so bad now. I'm writing her daily now that I have her address. She got the first phone call home in three weeks, and they would only let her talk a few minutes. I guess the saying is true "That which does not break you makes you stronger". It's really stressful to watch your child go through this. She really wants to be a sailor. Does anyone know if she'll have the opportunity to participate in a PIR with another division once she passes her final run?

Vickie, he will be staying in GL so I'll tell him the deal with pictures. Do you know if he does he battlestations before he passes the run or will he have to wait until after? He was suppose to start that tonight? Is there any chance they can swap out a swim for the run? Wishful thinking on my part, he is a stellar swimmer, but having a heck of a time with the run.

Thanks for all the info. I'm sure I'll have more questions tomorrow.

Will they be assigned to a different division and are they allowed to get mail. I read somewhere that they get phone calls on Sunday. Any idea what the days they test are?

That's pretty much what I figured as well. We were going to drive up, but his aunt is flying in. I read they wouldn't get a replacement PIR. What happens with his pictures? They took them a few weeks ago.

No, he was suppose to start battlestations tomorrow night, his PIR is/was 11/5. His script said not to come as he wouldn't be able to see us. Is there still a chance he could finish everything and PIR on time?
Comment by Laura (Ship 7 Div 355 PIR 11/5) on October 27, 2010 at 9:00pm
Teri, thanks. He called again with the script he had to read. Seemed a little overkill since he said basically the same thing before, but I understand they have their way. So, what happens now. He just needs to pass his run, but is down by 2 minutes.
