Hey ladies,
The plans for the luncheon are not finalized yet - it's been a busy week at our house as we get ready to send our daughter off to NY to join her husband next week so please bare with me for a few days. Right now, we are packing to head to the Gulf Coast for the weekend ------- we are celebrating our 25th anniversary!

Hope everyone had a great 4th. Ours was great! Our daughter at Boston College came home on Sunday the 4th, and so we celebrated the 4th on the 5th! We were also thrilled when our son called from Hawaii! He's enjoying his first (mini) cruise and is now out on maneuvers for the next 3 weeks.

Beautiful wedding pictures Donna. Reminds me of our son's which was local and a military white with swords as well! Congratulations and good luck to them!

Have a great week everyone!

Hello everyone. I don't post anything very often but I read all the wonderful stories and comments from all you moms and grandmoms. My grandson is still training in Florida but was able to come home for the fourth of July weekend. It was such a joy having him here. He will be leaving to go back to Florida today and I can't tell you how much we will miss him. In the short time he has been in the navy, we have noticed the change in him. We sent the navy a boy and the navy has sent us back a wonderful young man. I look forward with much pride to seeing the maturing the navy is going to impress upon him. Thank you Navy!!! Happy Fourth of July to you all and congratulations to you Donna(Johnny's mom).

Welcome smzayas. There are so many wonderful women here, each giving their stories, learnings and support. I can't be here every day, but I so enjoy it when I can find the time to catch up on what's going on with all the mom's and children and sharing what little I can.

Mary, Proud Mom of Nick...LOL i thought the same thing when I read your post that he was leaving. And now is when my Chris get's there. While still working hard, every on of the sailors are getting a tremendous lesson on international relations. 14 nations working, sharing, and playing together. And, I just learned that my daughter-in-law will be able to fly down towards the end of the exercise to spend a few days with Chris.

Everyone...Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

Diane - what an awesome message about his new job, don't we love it when our kids find satisfaction in their work?!

Smzayas --- those first couple of weeks are really hard on the family but you usually will get your first letter between the 2nd and 3rd week and that will help you alot. Just seeing their writing, just knowing they are okay ----- my biggest fear when our son went to boot camp was...did he hate it? was it sorry for joining? was the food okay? etc. etc. .........each letter you get, you will see their confidence grow and see they are happy with the decision they made to join the Navy. So hang in there...we'll get you thru bootcamp!!!

This is my son's boot camp second week and I still crying......I will always support my children in any good decision. That what we are to do as parents...So, THANKS for this website and all the information here. I may not be able to handle it all. Hi Everyone. And, an early Happy 4th of July. It will be a good one this year. My baby's coming home from college on Sunday for a week. My grandson (and his parents) loves living with us. And I just received an email from my son aboard the USS Ronald Reagan ... He's in Hawaii participating in RIMPAC 2010 with 20,000 Navy personnel from 14 Pacific Rim Countries. We had a phone call just the other and many text messages. The Navy also has a wonderful Facebook page about RIMPAC 2010 with photos. Here's what he said as a newbie Prowler pilot... "Just to let everyone know, I have the best job in the world. I may not be the best at it yet, but enjoyable just the same. Night carrier landings….what a rush! (a bit scary too.)" He's doing what he wants to do and is passionate about it. It's all I've ever wanted for him and happy that he's finally gotten there.

The 4th of July is a holiday based on the beliefs and actions of so many men and women committed to our freedom. Thank you to all of them - yesterday, today and tomorrow - who have served this country so proudly and selflessly and to the families that support them.
