Oh Wanda, celebrating here for you! I know you will be smiling all day!!! My Seabee nephew is at combat training now, he was originally slated to go to A'stan in October but they have moved it up to August and say that he will be there for eight months. Time will tell but my sister is not handling it well needless to say.

Daughter coming home from Statesboro for Easter weekend :-)

Hello everyone, wishing I would have put together an easter basket for our sailor. We did last year while he was in school but now that he is with the fleet, he can take weeks for the mail to be delivered -- when they are in their homeport! Mailed him some girl scout cookies and it took almost a month before they made it to him!! I was beginning to think the postal clerk ate those thin mints!!!

wade142: Thanks for the info about your mother. Please give her my regards. My tumor was on the back of my eye near the optic nerve. It was found when I went in for a regular eye exam. I went to Emory where the head of opthalmology is know for his approach was to save the eye and treat it with radiation much like the approach for men's prostrate cancer. It continues to slowly shrink. I go in for tests annually to make sure cancer cells are not spreading. While I've lost some peripheral vision, I can still see with the eye! That was very important for me. You will continue in my prayers that all is well with you.

sailordawgmom: so sorry to hear about your troubles. Happy birthday to your daughter, keep off your feet and when you're up again, perhaps we can rendezvous at TDG.

Hi all...
Mary H: just google U. S. Navy Concert Band to get to their website. All things about them including their schedule of events.

Wade142: So sorry to hear about your troubles: a double-whammy with your heart and thyroid. I understand your emotions at a time like this. In 2005, my son graduated college one day, was commissioned into the Navy the next, got married 5 days later and left for Pensacola 1 month later. 2 months after that I was diagnosed with cancer in my right eye! I had the option of removing the eye or going through radiation therapy. I chose radiation rather than lose the eye. While the tumor is slowly shrinking, I still have the chance that cancer might spread. I pray everyday, I think positively that all will be alright, and I go on with my life giving thanks for all the little blessings I have (my family and friends). I will add you to my prayers.

Congratulations Mary on becoming a mom-in-law. I know it will be tough times ahead, but I know you're a great, supportive mom. Best of luck to them.

Attending the concert, is just another way to show our support. Besides, I was once a member of a band and it was always pleasing to have a large audience. I want to help these folks know that we support them as well as their musical talents!

Just want to share ...I am now a Mother in Law! How scary!! Our daughter was engaged to a soldier in Iraq and they decided to get married while he was home on his two week r and r. It was a courthouse wedding with plans to do a ceremony and reception when he returns from Iraq. Steve and I was there to witness the moment.

I now officially have two sons both named...Nick!

Diane, great information - I wish it was any week but this one! We have to send Nick2 back to Iraq tomorrow and get our daughter back to school in Statesboro. Crazy week for us.
