Hi everyone. I try for coming online at least once a day, but am falling short of that. No, we stayed around because of the dogs who slept through all the noise. By the way, Danielle-B's mom, I'm a football fan. It was not a good day for us yesterday. Auburn lost (son graduated from there and their NROTC program), Boston College lost (my daughter current attends, tough game against Virginia Tech), but Navy won! Oooo Rah!! Today, it's the Falcons (quarterback graduated from Boston College where we saw him play).

Hello new friends. I haven't been on much lately...busy getting our roof repaired before fixing all the other things around the house that got wet. It's a good day ... I just got off the phone with my son. He's got a 4-day weekend and plans on enjoying the time off around the house with his wife. The days are welcomed as he's spent a lot of time flying this past week. Hope all of you are doing well.

Nice afternoon here ladies. Thinking of our travelers on the way to Great lakes today for PIR :-)

Hope everyone is doing well. It's a three day weekend and in some cases a four day weekend for some of our sailors depending on where they are stationed. Boot campers --- don't get long weekends nor do deployed sailors.

Goodness Trish, he's gonna be the most well traveled sailor ever...before he even gets to his first ship!!! Yep, the USS GEorge Bush is huge, I got to see it in April in Norfolk - I think there are close to 6000 stationed on it...huge!

Danielle, our prayers are with you and your family. I cannot imagine a sweet two year old being so sick. I do believe that Atlanta is closer to you than Nashville but finding the doctors that are familiar with her condition is most important.

Hey Kim -

Trish, the wonderful thing that we see so often in this group and the site in general is almost every family is pleased that their son or daughter made the choice to join the Navy and it's been good for them. The 1.5 years that our son has invested so far has done much more for him than the 1.5 years of college that he dabbled with!!! It's all good :-)

Good morning all. Wanda ---- good to see you girl!

Ah no ---- verbal orders are not solid, written orders are not solid. We have a friend lives in Mayport, FL and her sailor son just happened to get orders to ...a ship in Mayport. He was excited, the family was excited and his fiancee was really excited. His rate sent him to a C school in California for a few months, he had already started the school and got an email from the ship saying ...instead of THAT class we need you to go to a different class in CA. Sailor was confused but showed the email to the school and the school said...emails mean nothing, until you get new orders you are in this class. He emailed the ship back to say he needed orders for that other class. A couple days later, he got an email from a ship homeported in San Diego...sayin Welcome Aboard! They changed his orders completely from East coast to West Coast and this was after receiving written orders and sitting in a C school based on those orders! Now, I've been involved in Navy life for over 25 years and I don't believe this happens frequently but it does happen and it truly comes down to..."The needs of the Navy" a term that many families love to hate. But in the end these things usually work out or present our sailors with different opportunities so we just need to ride the...wave and always hope for the best!
