Covered up until after the holidays. We are escaping to Pigeon Forge for a week and will be going to Dollywood for the first time to see the Christmas decorations. Had our sailor home for a month but he is now at his new command in San Diego he did re enlist for another four years - miss him already and there is a long deployment in his future. Sigh

I had one on here for my son's ship but removed it as the ship has a very active Facebook page.

Mary - thanks for responding.  Yes, I'm in the Destroyer group.  There isn't one specific to the Halsey.  I would start one, but my son will be moving to the Russell, so I'll just stick with that.  I hope one day I'll get to be on a Tiger Cruise!

Have you joined the Destroyer group yet?

No, Nick has been on the USS Chung Hoon and will be leaving it on Thursdayvfr the USS William P Lawrence in San Diego. Seems like I know someone on the Halsey

Mary - Is your son by any chance on the Russell, and switching to the Halsey?  My son just got to the Halsey (first assignment after Boot Camp) and will be switching to the Russell.  If your son is on the Russell, I would love to hear more about his experiences.

Spirit - I've seen the video on FB, and I'm "friends" with you son! He was in the same Boy Scout Troop my two sons were in and I've known him since then.  How nice to connect with you!

Hi all,
It's official. Our son re-enlisted for another four more years. He will be leaving his ship in Hawaii and heading to a new ship in San Diego but most importantly he will be home on Friday and stay thru Thanksgiving :-)
